Final ruling of Court of Appeal on 9th amendment slated for Tuesday afternoon

At a quarter to six, the attorneys came out of the Court of Appeals. Denys Barrow, the government’s lead attorney on the case said that it all boils down to two p.m. on Tuesday. At that time the court should have made a decision since the injunction expires at four p.m.

“The four p.m. injunction remains in place. The decision will be given at two o’clock so until they give that decision, the injunction holds the position.”

“So what is the state of play? The Governor General cannot accede—no restraint is against him—but presumably, the A.G. cannot take it to him—that still stands?”

“As far as the court is concerned and I presume as far as the A.G. is concerned—but again, I have not looked at it closely myself, so I can’t say—but I think the intention has been that it should not progress. Whether that has been effective, it’s not for me to say.”

“Now as we move into the judgment tomorrow—I know you don’t want to preempt what the court will say—but is it your feeling that this time tomorrow the ninth will have been signed into law by the governor general because at four p.m. the Mendez injunction would have expired?”

“Well if the court gives a decision in our favor at two, the Mendez injunction disappears at two o’clock. So whenever the full court gives a decision that marks the end of the matter.”
Thia looks like a very sick joke the GOB is all barrows, keeping the $$$$$ in the family while the poor man has to steal and turn to criminal activities to feed his family Where is your sense of decency Mr. Prime Minister. This is one of the major reasons why this udp government has to go. Belizeans are sick of this craziness.
Why is it that only these two can defend the government in court? Are they the best and brightest lawyers in the land?

another 5 years of the UDP and dean barrow ,lois young barrow & the barrow family will be a millionaire/billionaire ……while we the poor people have to suffer the abuse,corrupt,arrogant,ignorant UDP govt’,we cant take it any more,why not cut lois young HUGE salaries ? that monies can be used to fix the streets,have better health facilities,more scholarships,MORE JOBS,-less crime,we the people can stop this and WE THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER WE CAN’T continue to allow dean barrow to continue using us as his “BAITS”- CARNADAS……no more-enough is ENOUGH.
