Nemencio’s new appointment; Perdy stepping down?
In news from Belmopan, there is a major political move in the United Democratic Party. Word to News Five is that Minister of Defence and Immigration, Carlos Perdomo, is stepping out of the political arena. Perdomo, who is the area rep for Caribbean Shores has had a stormy tenure as a minister. He was stung by a huge immigration scandal and more recently, the robbery at the B.D.F. headquarters has dealt another blow to him. Perdomo, however, is saying that it is for health reasons that he is not prepared to run for office in the next election even though he won his divisional convention in December, 2010. Mike Singh is touted as his successor. Singh is currently the Executive Chair of Beltraide and the past C.E.O. of the Ministry of Tourism. He is also the brother of the Minister of Police.
In another move in the government, Corozal North Area representative, Nemencio Acosta, this morning became the Minister of State for Agriculture and Fisheries. Acosta took the oath before the Governor General to serve the remaining part of the UDP’s current term in office. Acosta’s political fortunes were going downhill; he was removed from the Sugar Industry Control Board following the 2009 riot at Tower Hill when Atanacio Gutierrez was killed. Hugo Patt replaced him went and on to beat him at convention earlier this year. That put him at odds with his government because it was felt that Patt had been favored above him.
Praise the Lord! Perdomo is gone, certainly exceedingly incompetent if not corrupt.
I can’t imagine replacing him with another Singh, however, for fear that incompetence runs in that family. Brother Doug is more aptly called DUD.
About time this guy should be put in jail for letting go all the gov employees who have committed crimes and then let go like the airport employees and than the bdf soldiers who let the drug plane land I guess perdomo is satisfied with the money he has made and as far as nemencio he is not qualified for the job of agriculture I guess barrow owes him something useless pm and gov.
Good luck to Mr. Perdomo in his future endeavours and i wish him and his wife a speedy recovery. Although Mr. Perdomo had his problems in politics, he and his wife are very humble and generous people. We are all ready to condemn people but don’t understand what people go thru at home. His health is not optimal right now and his wife is ill. This is beyond politics and i respect and admire his decision to put his family first.
GET IT RIGHT….U R FULL OF BS…PERDOMO FAILED HID PARTY,HIS COMMUNITY AND MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THIS COUNTRY…WITH ALL THE !@$$ HE WAS INVOLVE WITH….
El Menso is Back to do nothing more than have a shot of whiskey.
If he is resigning for health reasons, then why has he been allowed to retain his immigration and defence portfolios? The country needs someone in top health to run this important ministries.
Who is Nemencio, ? such a none entity. the present UDP government is so lacking in brain power that even Perdomo appeared as bright in the beginning.
jack di ripper and ROD two of uno full of BS………YU no know NOTHING of Mr Perdomo or his family! Ask past students of SJC, members of St Martins Parish, past students of Gwen Liz (formerly Sec 1), ANYONE who knows Mr Perdomo KNOWS that he is one of the most HONEST politicians around….evybody quick fu jump up and crucify…….why yu no talk about former ministers who have RAPED this country just as Johnny Briceno said “Bring back the millions”!!! Mr Perdomo has done NOTHING like that and at the end of the day….the GOOD LORD will show ALL you BELIZEANS exactly who was corrupt and who wasn’t
PUP and UDP full of **(&* we need a party that IS FOR THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! NOT FOR THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!! I can think of a few PUP’s and a few UDP’s who could surely start it up….QUESTION is are the people REALLY ready for a politician who is “FOR THE PEOPLE”!!! sometimes people don’t realize what that means or entails~~~~~~~~~
Jack di raper u sound like a poor unfortunate soul that probably wanted a hand out from Perdomo and didn’t get anything. Like tiad of dem all said, you know nothing of perdomo and the type of man he is. On a whole i was not talking about his political career, but him as a person. You know nothing of the man and you said he failed his country? How? You have no idea how much people this man has helped in his political career, but mostly how much he and his wife has helped outside his political career.
