1st flush; GSU bust couple for cocaine
Shortly before one o’clock this morning a team of officers attached to the Gang Suppression Unit descended upon the property of forty-eight year old Caryl Meighan on Mercy Lane and when they left, they got cash and cocaine. According to GSU personnel, the occupants of the five bedroom house, Meighan and his common-law wife, thirty-nine year old Deborah Myvette, were heard flushing the toilet in the master bedroom when the GSU announced they would conduct the search. The sewer pipe leading to the septic tank was immediately broken and the GSU claims they found six small Ziploc bags containing three point seven grams of suspected powder cocaine and another point four grams in a separate bag on top of the wash hand basin inside the bathroom.
The bathroom floor was also reportedly littered with twenty-six empty Ziploc bags. When they moved to the bedroom, police found one thousand, five hundred and twenty-nine dollars in local currency. The couple has since been arrested and jointly charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug and Drug Trafficking. Seven hundred and sixty-four dollars of the money discovered has been turned over to government following an income tax assessment. Myvette is also before the court for similar charges stemming from a raid conducted at her West Street address in early July which netted a total of fifteen point nine grams of cocaine.
