Argument becomes murderous road rage

Up north another murder has been reported. A resident of the San Victor Village in the Corozal District was killed during a hit and run incident last Thursday. The driver of the vehicle has been charged with murder rather than manslaughter. According to police reports, the death was the result of an argument between two brothers and a third person. At eight-thirty on Thursday night, a B.D.F. soldier Placido Cawich and his brother Rafael were involved in an altercation with Ismael Burgos, a laborer of Louisville Village, following a previous altercation earlier in the day. According to reports, another relative, Emilio Cawich joined the confrontation with Burgos. The situation was further aggravated when Emilio reportedly hit Burgos’ Ford F150 pickup with an object. Burgos sped away but drove back aiming for Emilio, who managed to evade the vehicle.  But Burgos tried again and was successful this time ramming Emilio with his truck. Emilio’s body landed about eight feet from the point of impact. The body was removed from the road before Burgos could run him over again. He then sped off from the scene. Emilio was pronounced dead on arrival at the Corozal Hospital.
