Belizean Motocross Champs beat foreigners in race

Sports Monday will be coming up later in the newscast, but there is a local sport that is going higher than hoops, cutting across tracks, faster than sprinters and muddier than any on record. On Sunday November twenty-seventh, the Belize Motocross Association held a race at the Peter August Stadium in Santa Elena, Cayo. There were fifteen Belizean riders and fourteen Guatemalans.  After two months of preparation, the Belizean riders went full throttle and achieved victory throughout most of the show. In the beginners class, Brian Dyck from Blue Creek took first place, Marlon Dueck second and Carl Froes third.  Colombian National Yerson Ortis who now earned second place, previously won the Intermediate category.  Gordon Dueck took first place and Chris Reimer placed third. The four hundred and fifty CC or Professional category was always dominated by the Guatemalan professional Agusto De La Riva. This time around Abe Letkeman placed first, De La Riva second and Jimmy Braun came in third on a replacement cycle. According to Tim Banman, the president of the Motocross Association, the next Motocross race will be held in the beginning of January.

nice sport but we need a better place to showcase our Belizean talent. many don’t like it but it’s a trending sport getting more attention now. it would be nice that a place would be designated only for that and a place where all Belizeans can have access to it meaning not far in the south of the country nor too north. congrats to all riders.
