Chandra will sprint against Santi in Caribbean Shores Race
The U.D.P. Caribbean Shores divisional elections will take place on December fourth. There has been movement back and forth between campaign workers of Chandra Cansino and Santino Castillo. Late this evening, News Five spotted current area representative Carlos Perdomo’s driver, Omar Burns campaigning with Castillo. Perdomo passed his divisional workers to the Cansino team but it seems that each individual had made their own choice of candidate to support.
The candidates have been on foot patrols from dusk to dawn, and those whom they don’t meet can find inspiration in billboards such as Santi Castillo’s Ride to Victory with Santi and Chandra Cansino’s The time is Now. Earlier today, News Five found Cansino on the campaign trail where she was handing out flyers and solidifying her campaign base.
Chandra Cansino, U.D.P. Aspirant for Caribbean Shores Constituency
“The campaign has been going really well. The response has been overwhelming; it’s very positive. It’s an inspiration to know that the constituency of Caribbean Shores is such a positive constituency. I have learned so much over the past couple weeks and I have one more week to go and so we will continue nonstop until the last booth is counted.”
Jose Sanchez
“Some candidates are pulling out representatives, people who are well known. Who do you have other than the Prime Minister’s wife of course?”
Chandra Cansino
“Yes, Kim is the person that has come out publically to supp[ort me. There are other ministers of government that are supporting me; it uis up to them whether they want to come out publicly or not. But Jose the most important endorsement for me is the endorsement of the people of Caribbean Shores that is the endorsement that is most important and the endorsement that I have. So that is really the one that concerns me the most. High profile endorsements are good, but the endorsement that is necessary to win an election is the endorsement of the people of the constituency.”
Jose Sanchez
“When it comes to who’s campaigning for you—I know there was some confusion the other day. They said that some people are going back and forth. When it comes to loyalty, does that play a role in what you are doing?”
“Yes, there was this one fellow that went over to Mr. Castillo’s camp. that’s one person Jose. I have a whole team of campaigners working along with me. One person won’t make a difference. If a person is motivated by something else other than loyalty, then we will fill the space with somebody else. It is really not an issue for me.”
Jose Sanchez
“How have you been making ground with your team around this in this vast area that is Caribbean Shores?”
Chandra Cansino
“Well I think the advantage is that we have been campaigning morning noon and night. We have been using all the strategies of campaigning that exists. I have a really, really strong organization team and I think that is what is making the difference now. We are very, very positive that we will be victorious.”
Jose Sanchez
“I know people have been putting you and Santi together—he’s more of a well known personality and businessman, but you are probably more well known in the medical circles for example and the health circles.”
Chandra Cansino
“Yes, but remember I am a cyclist as well and I do the ride across Belize every year which is a ride for charity which involves the Santino’s Team and all the cyclists in Belize. So that along with my work in the medical field and with Social Security—I would not say that I am a person that is not well known. Maybe not as popular, but well known.”
Jose Sanchez
“So between you and Santi then it is safe to say it will be a race to the finish?”
Chandra Cansino
“It will definitely be a race and a ride to the finish.”
WHY IS THIS WOMAN CANDIDATE SO EMBARRASSED TO PUT ON HER HER OWN RED T-SHIRT??????
IT’S BECAUSE SHE HAS CLOSE CONTACT WITH THE OPPOSITION????
COME BETTER THAN THAT CHANDRA, WE WANT DIE HARD RED IN THE PARTY OK
LET ME SEE YOU FULLY ATTIRED IN YOUR OWN RED T-SHIRT THE NEXT TIME YOU COME ON NATIONAL NEWS OK.
really western? you are getting all flustered that she isnt wearing an all red tshirt? do you truly believe that her competency level will be influenced by how red her t-shirt is?
if that is the case then why not criticize them for wearing ‘blue jeans’ 🙂
its frightful that people are so ‘colorblind’ that they miss the really important issues out there…
let the lady do her thing. if she wins good for her. may the best candidate win.
i agree with “ashamed”, what western is saying is non-sense.
The First Lady ………SHOULD NOT BE ENDORSING ANYONE; she should work on leaving a lasting legacy.
