Murder of cabdriver in Cayo

And though the drowning remains suspect, there is no guesswork with what happened to a Cayo resident. The cab driver and Bullet Tree resident was found dead two hours after his vehicle was chartered to take a family to the North of the country. On Monday afternoon around one o’clock, San Ignacio Police discovered the body of forty-five year old Dominicio Quixchan on a feeder road in Bullet Tree Village. Officer in Charge of the Western Formation, Louise Willis says that the passenger, Hernan Manzanero, is hospitalized at the San Ignacio Hospital under police guard.

“He was seen face up with multiple chop wounds to the face and neck. About four hundred feet away, they found Quixchan’s taxi license plate number CYD3552. The scene was processed and the body was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital, where it was pronounced dead by Dr. Pacheco. Police investigations revealed that about eleven a.m yesterday, twenty-eight of November, Quixchan’s taxi was chartered by one Hernan Manzanero, twenty-one years of Bullet Tree to take him and his common-law wife to Progresso, mile seven to the Mountain Pine Ridge Area. Later Hernan was seen at the San Ignacio Community Hospital with chop wounds to the forehead. Hernan is presently under guard at the San Ignacio Hospital and we are investigating the matter.”

Willis says that Manzanero’s common-law-wife and child weren’t injured.
