Bullet Tree man detained for murder of Cayo taxi man

Earlier on Monday, Bullet Tree taxi driver, forty five year old Domiciano Quixchan, was murdered.  One of the passengers in the taxi, twenty-one year old Hernan Manzanero, who was hospitalized at the San Ignacio Hospital, was released but was soon detained by police as part of the ongoing investigation.  Police say that Quixchan was on the Bullet Tree Road taking Manzanero, his seventeen year old common-law wife, and three weeks old baby on a chartered trip. En route, through San Antonio Village, two unmasked men boarded the taxi, and demanded money, ordering the driver through a feeder road. Police say a struggle ensued among the men, while the young mother and child escaped unhurt. Manzanero sustained a cut to the forehead, while Quixchan died from multiple chop wounds to the head and neck area. The two assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of money from Quixchan’s wallet. Police later recovered the taxi in the vicinity of the area.
