Woman alleges rape after consensual sex

A Belize City young woman claims says she was raped by two men, one which is her friend. The rape case came up before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez today and the eighteen year old claims she was raped after having consensual sex with one of them.  The alleged rape occurred last Thursday at the home of thirty year old Keyon Cleland on South Street where the victim was reportedly socializing with twenty-six year old Gion Bernard. In a report to police, the woman claims that after she was intimate with Bernard, Cleland entered the room wearing only boxers.

Bernard then left and Cleland allegedly raped her. But she claims the nightmare was not over; and further alleges that when Cleland had abused her, Bernard returned and had sexual intercourse with her again, this time without consent. Both men were arraigned for the Rape today, but no plea was taken on the indictable charges. Cleland and Bernard have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January tenth when bail will be considered on their behalf.
