Well-known Attorney to be laid to rest

Attorney, Dr. Elson Kaseke, passed away in Merida on Tuesday night where he was receiving medical treatment. Kaseke will be laid to rest on Friday morning in Belmopan. The Bar Association of Belize today issued a statement on his passing. The Bar says, “Kaseke served Belize in several capacities including Crown Counsel, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Legal Draftsman, Solicitor General and as a private practitioner. His contributions to the Belizean legal profession and practice and to the country of Belize will forever be appreciated.” With the expected participation of the legal fraternity at Kaseke’s funeral on Friday, the preliminary hearings in the UNIBAM case have been moved to January thirtieth.
