Several Punta Gorda students and teachers injured in accident

But other students did not make it to Chetumal. A van carrying thirteen persons ran off the road early Thursday morning as it made its way from Punta Gorda. The passengers included five students along with their parents and teachers who were en route to Chetumal to take part in a cultural presentation. But at Mile six on the Southern Highway, the driver, forty-one year old Randolph Duncan, was blinded by the high beam lights from a vehicle parked on the left side of the road. So instead of making a left turn into the Hummingbird Highway, Duncan crashed into an orchard.  As a result two students, Revaldo Coc and Isabel Romero, were injured as well as Gloria Coc and Myra Reyes. The remaining passengers all complained of pains to different parts of the body. Duncan has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
