3 men committed to stand trial for separate sexual offences
In the courts, Kareem Hamilton, Steven Armstrong and Carlos Matura, were committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court on April sixteenth of 2012 for three separate sex offenses. In the first case, twenty-four year old Hamilton was arraigned on the fourteenth of June of this year for Committing an Unnatural Crime. It is alleged that he sodomized a fifteen year old boy in April of this year.
Hamilton was granted bail, which he was unable to meet and remains in custody at the Belize Central Prison. In the second case, twenty-two year old Armstrong was charged with Carnal Knowledge of a fifteen year old girl, which took place in July of this year. He was also granted bail. The third man, thirty-eight year old Matura was arraigned in January of this year on a charge of rape and aggravated burglary upon a twenty-eight year old woman who was allegedly raped at her home in the presence of her children.
Belize should have a law that people convicted of serious sexual offences will be castrated. It’s the only sure way to prevent future crimes by these sick and violent people.
