Government will be giving residents some bonus Christmas cash

The Barrow Administration has embarked on a Christmas Assistance Program. It is providing cash to ministers for their constituents countrywide. While the Prime Minister did not confirm the dollar amount being issued to each area representative, he attested today that the disbursal of funds, believed to be in the area of forty thousand dollars per constituency, is a selective process being directed through several government ministries.

“No U.D.P. representative is receiving any money. The government has chartered a Christmas assistance program and the funds that the government is using is being channeled through various ministries so that there is going to be complete transparency and a proper accounting record. If you want to quarrel with the fact that government is trying to help with the wellbeing of citizens for Christmas then you’re free to do so.”

“Oh absolutely! The representative is helping to select the recipients of the particular constituencies. I can’t see that there’s anything wrong with that. That is why they represent those constituencies.”
The source of funding for the Christmas bonus, however, was not identified. The bills passed in the House today were the Evidence Amendment Act and the International Limited Liability Companies Act while the independent Commission Complaint Bill was withdrawn because it was not fully ready for presentation.

So the Government is in effect using Public Funds to buy the City Council Elections. We all know what Jules meant when he said “Favored Citizens”. You can forget about those who really need the funds. Lets not forget. The UDP Government only serves UDP supporters. Instead of selectively giving out so called Christmas Assistance, why not be real and give all the hard working Public Officers a Christmas bonus! That would alleviate any problems with accountability and transparency. But as usual, those terms are like “Christmas Decorations” to you…..
In my area, people are selected to be given gifts….what is the difference in giving the money to the area representative and getting the area representative to identify people who will get assistance? Money still end up in UDP hands…embarassingly, not reaching the needy.
