Belizean American sentenced to 25 years in US prison
Belizean Ian Alamilla, pleaded guilty to a charge of murder on October twenty-seventh; over a year after he strangled his estranged wife, Tara in Westmont, Illinois. On Thursday, Ian appeared before a judge in DuPage County and was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. In mitigation, the thirty-five year old told the court that he never intended kill his wife; in fact, Ian says he was looking forward to spending time with Tara and their three children when he went to the house in April 2010. He said that his actions made no sense and that he was deeply sorry. Before handing down the sentence, Judge Kathryn Creswell noted that the murder was not premeditated and that it was motivated by rage. She also took into consideration that Ian was remorseful about what he had done, that he had no known criminal history and that he turned himself in as well as pleaded guilty to the charge instead of going to trial. Ian and Tara got into an argument after having movie night with their children on April ninth, their daughter’s fifth birthday. He choked Tara to death while the children slept and left her body in the basement of her house. Hours later, Ian walked into a Chicago Police Station and told the cops that he had a domestic dispute with his wife. Alamilla also called his brother in Belize, admitted that he had murdered Tara and that he wanted to kill himself. His brother then encouraged him to go to the police.
American justice is so much more JUST and satisfying than our own. I wish we could import their police, DPP, and system!
Sad, SAD, sad……….So sorry for the children.
Storm….WE DON’T NEED TO IMPORT RACIST AMERICAN POLICE or Their Tactics
Why not import them we already have racism in Belize anyway at least we will get some justice in Belize because that is non existant now. Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good justice system that works sometimes stop crime and obviously racism will always be alive no matter what, because some people will always think they are better than others.
they are always remorseful after the fact. Who knows he was probably abusing his wife for a while and like so many abused women she probably just kept it all in.
