Well known ‘youth man’ dies from shooting injuries

Anthony Major

Ever since he was shot in November of 2010, well-known street figure, Anthony Major, better known as ‘King of Pinks Alley’, remained bed-ridden. Major, was by no means an innocent gun violence victim, in June 2009 he was arrested during a failed robbery attempt at Tong’s Supermarket. Major’s partner in crime, Richard Flores, didn’t survive the robbery attempt.  Flores was shot and killed by the supermarket’s owner. And though Major escaped that incident without a scratch, eventually he was shot in the chest while walking through an alley near Hyde’s Lane and since then Major hasn’t been able to walk.  He became paralyzed from the waist to his feet. On Monday night, December twenty-sixth, Major died at the KHMH from complications, which resulted from the gunshots. Over the past year, Major was seeking financial assistance to seek medical attention abroad. News Five did a series of follow up stories with Major since he was shot. Tonight we revisit portions of two of those interviews:

“The spinal cord damaged. Cause the two legs to paralyze from the bullet wound. The bullet enter my chest, exit the back but it damaged the spine. So it paralyzes the two foot. That’s what d doctor told me. After when the swelling from the spine go down.”

Jose Sanchez

“Mr. Major what do you do for a living?”

Anthony Major

“I’m a laborer.”

Jose Sanchez

“This will hamper your ability to earn an income right?”

Anthony Major

“Big-time. Big time. This will slow me down.”

Jose Sanchez

“You have any family, kids, wife?”

Anthony Major

“Yes sir. That’s my mother right out here. My sisters, niece, nephews, daughter, they really mess me up right here.”

Jose Sanchez

“This is going to be a big change in life for you. Are you emotionally prepared to being in a wheel chair?”

Anthony Major

“Well, with the help of the father, brother. I’ll pray to jah for me to get back on my two feet and walk again.”

“He get shot last November. He has been doing well sometimes and sometimes bad. Now, he is really down, he’s gone I would say. But probably maybe I can get help to bring him up back you know. So I’m asking for help from the public and outside and whosoever because if you see the situation of him right now, his bed sores they are really, really terrible.”

Anthony Major, Paralyzed After Shooting

“All my body, is like it’s broken up in pieces. I have to stay in one position for hours and hours and hours. And you know and I know the situation is really critical to stay in a position like this day and night. Day and night, this is what I take pain and pain and pain.”

Delahnie Bain

“How have you been handling this drastic change in your life?”

Anthony Major

“I have been handling it with the father so far because I pray to the father and ask him to please help me for all the things I’ve done. The wicked things I’ve done, I ask the father to forgive me and he helps me that’s why I’m still strong with him and going through this situation. But I am asking somebody to take this situation into consideration and help me.”

While thirty-year-old Chadwick Tingling has been charged for Major’s shooting, he hasn’t yet been tried. When shooting victims die from complications related to their injuries, the charges are usually upgraded to murder.

i understand how u feel mom but its also ur responsibility to make sure u bring up ur kid the right way.
for this youth man. he is only just feeling what many family and victims went thru. i am sure that every second he laid on that bed he remembered the many lives he had taken and the many people he had hurt. the many love ones he had taken from family.

i hope and wish that this be an example to all the criminals out there that in everything you do there is a price to pay. i am sure that his advise to other $#!% heads would be to lay down their arms and work honestly. its sad but its the reality.

1 less scum off the streets – thanks to street justice.
