2 detained for home invasion murder

On Wednesday night, we told you about the ruthless home invasion of thirty four year old Sylvan Roberts, an ultrasound technician of Santa Elena, Cayo. Roberts and his family were inside their home when he heard noises in his living room and upon making checks he encountered masked and armed robbers inside his house. One of the assailants shot Roberts who later succumbed to his injuries. The assailants took a small amount of cash after they ransacked the house. On Wednesday, San Ignacio police had a minor detained and were looking for two others. News Five understands that two men are in detention and are being investigated in connection with this murder.

  1. Storm says:

Give them a fair conviction, then HANG THEM HIGH, for all to see.

  2. Lucas says:

Love FM reported that the second detainee has a wound in one of his hands. Was there blood stains on the door or broken glass?. Were the crime scene detectives looking for such clues?, did they see it?, was it picked and preserved?. If there was such evidence and was not contaminated, it can be matched with a blood sample from the suspect and bingo but, in Belize, if you are not related nor have connection with people in high places; then it is tough luck.

Hang them hang them enough is enough

  4. Al says:

It is a shame that you cannot build a nice house in Belize without having to worry or be afraid to be killed because you worked to build a life. Robberies need to understand that smart people do not keep a lot of money in their houses. The big problem is that the kids are dropping out of schools with little or no education so they do not know how to reason out thier actions.

  5. CONVICTION says:

Lofefm says a lot of things then ‘disappear it’ sometimes. lets stick to the police work and not the gossip work Lucas.

  6. somiah says:

Now that the gang killings seem to subside, now it is robbery that makes the headlines… There is no letting up in the Jewel!

  7. truebelizean says:

And where is the continuing story about Luis Polanco, Erlin Puc, and Reina Ruiz. They deserve more than a little article. We need to know what is going on with IAN VEGA. When will he be charged? Whas was his blood alcohol level? Is Mai doing his job? And are you Channel 5? Do your investigations. Do your job. These innocent people deserve justice. Follow up. Pressure the police. Don’t push the Belizean people to have to take matters into their own hands. This has to stop. Too much damn corruption!

  8. Cas says:

If Mr. Roberts was the son of the prime minister then surely DNA would be worth talking about.
Sorry to say may he rest in peace, and we can all be assured that this is a closed case already.
DNA, finger prints etc, etc ., are all wishful thinking !!! (Who wants to bet?)
I still cannot help stop thinking about this cruelty done to Mr. Roberts, honestly may he rest in peace and me the Lord comfort his beloved family.
So sad, we wish we were still BRITISH HONDURAS!
All those little gang bangs that are giving trouble on the streets would be glad to stay home and obey their elders !!!
But BELIZE is a free country…yes a free country belonging to the gangs, because innocent people cannot walk the streets at NO time and be safe !!!
Did not you see how very few people were out for xmas? We are scared to go out !!!
If even inside our homes we are NOT safe, what can we expect out on the streets !!!
