Man in need of heart surgery passes away at K.H.M.H.
On Thursday night, we aired a plea from Belize City resident, James Elijio, who was seeking financial assistance to send his son to the US for heart surgery. But tonight, there is an unfortunate update to that story. Twenty-one year old Jermaine Elijio passed away at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where was admitted for about a month. According to James, his son’s heart was swollen and beating with excessive pressure, causing him to have trouble breathing. Jermaine needed a surgery that would cost twenty thousand US dollars to repair a valve in his heart. But even after his death, Jermaine’s family is still in a financial bind because they cannot afford a proper burial. And so James is asking anyone that can assist with the funeral expenses to contact him at 605-2095.
Life rough out yah!!! Really rough.
Our goverment has millions of dollars to write off loans.Thats where the money should go,in a emergency fund to help poor Belizean.Like the kid that need a heart surgery.
It’s such a shame, this young man’s life could have definately been saved. Why couldn’t the surgery be performed and work out some type of payment plan with the family. This is no different than denying someone medical attention because of their financial status.Doesn’t the patient bill of rights apply in Belize.
look at the Mercedes Benz SUVs, the INFINTIs SUV and LEXUS SUV that the ministers and their girlfriends and sweethearts drive. one of these vehicles can pay for TEN of these surgeries. but what does that matter to this government!!
Yeah people fighting for rights of homosexuals etc; but what about more important things like right to healthcare..nstead of government throwing away money in campaigns and buying votes, why not help people like this kid who needed a heart surgery and……note that he was 21, this was a win win situation for hsi vote, he would have been so grateful he wouldnt think twice to give his vote to whoever helped him…these people dont know about politics,,im not saying just for the vote, but like they only worry bout that, why dont help the people in return for their vote atleast…..
JahKid, Bernie, Elgin, FED UP, and OR…..I agree with ALL OF YOU…Belize is in a sad state of matters…its the HAVES VS. THE HAVE NOTS….But the Creator is watching…the Bible says, for a rich man to get into Heaven, it will be like a camel trying to get through the eye of a needle, more and more we can begin to understand why this is said…Most of them are living in Heaven on earth, nut they are ALL Doomed to GO TO HELL, WHERE THEY BELONG!!!! My condolences to this youngman’s family and friends.
