A man accused of stabbing his common-law-wife to death is free tonight after a no-case submission was upheld in the Corozal Supreme Court. Thirty-eight year old James Jackson has been behind bars since the murder of twenty-one year old Elena Espela Amador, in May, 2010. During the trial, Justice Denis Hanomansingh objected to the admissibility of a caution statement given by Jackson in 2010, in which he allegedly admitted to committing the murder. Jackson was also quoted as saying that during a fight with Amador, she grabbed the knife but he managed to take it away and stabbed her four times to the neck and body. Today, Jackson’s Attorney, Ellis Arnold, made the no-case submission on the grounds that there is insufficient evidence to convict him since the caution statement was inadmissible. Prosecutor, Sheiniza Smith had no further evidence against Jackson and the jury was ordered to return a not guilty verdict. Amador was killed at around two-thirty on the morning of May twentieth, 2010. She had just arrived home and got into an argument with Jackson. The heated confrontation allegedly escalated to violence and she was stabbed to death.
Sounds like as soon as the Police got his caution statement admitting to the murder they threw a party and closed the case….INSTEAD OF GETTING MUCH MORE EVIDENCE for a tighter case… In situations like this what is a BELIZEAN FAMILY TO DO?

I am from their – both of them – neighborhood – in Corozal Town – what I know is that the young beautiful girl lived an abusive with the man being sooooo jealous; NOW, he killed her, all the neighborhood know that he stabbed her to death – he admitted this to his employer and to the police !!!!! SO NOW HE IS FREE – Can’t believe it – now it seems that the family of the girl need to take action on their own – WHY??? He will come back to the neighborhood and live large – do you think that the family can live with that?????
