Paid loan also written-off loan!

Remember the write-offs from the Ministry of Housing last year? About sixty million dollars were written off in delinquent loans, but tonight News Five has obtained copies of letters issued by Housing and Planning Department in December that are raising serious questions. Corozal resident, Jorge Escalante is the recipient of one such letter, informing him that his Home Improvement Loan has been written off with the department. Escalante told us that he received a housing loan in 1990, but paid it off with a subsequent loan from one of the commercial banks. Escalante says that he has receipts to show that his loan had been paid in full so he is questioning the recent letter, stating that his loan of seventeen thousand has been written off. But the Corozal Bay resident says that he contacted Social Security’s offices in Corozal and Belmopan but he was told that they have information indicating that a letter had been sent to him. So, the question remains, how can a loan that has been paid in full, be written off?

Could it be just a simple mistake? It seems no one can make mistake without some conspiracy.

For every Jorge Escalante I am sure we can actually find people who did owe money and their loan written off.

Without calling any names I know of two people who didn’t pay their loans and were very pleased to have their debts written off.

If Mr Escalante saying he paid his loan off and have receipts to prove it. Where is the money that should have taken care of his balance? Someone tell us something, who pocketed the money and to other loans that are paid off . These games being played for a long time. My Belizean people open your eyes to fraud and scandalous behavior in the system.

Hey!!!! We should not be surprise; both major political parties are infected with the dishonest genes!!!
my problem with this administration is that they want us to buy into the idea that at the very hint of corruption that people or minister will be single out, well that have not been the case am sorry it seem to have been just a selected few that they were unable to cover up……seeeeeee at this point we Belizeans are not satisfy with partial exposure of corruption by this government we expect full disclosure…….nothing more nothing less……..if not, in my eyes and the masses eyes……this administration would be worse than the previous administration by condoning the wrong doings…..2 wrongs nuh mek rite…..NO WRONG WORSE THAN the OTHER WORNG DAH WRONG!!!!!!! So they will see the results of taking our kindness and forgiveness for granted.

There are so many stories of the BIG SCAM being run by Social Security. There are names on that list that their loan is being written off and they never even got a loan. In fact, they never even applied for a loan to start off with. And when they go to check on this, the file cannot be found!!! I dont know but they need to investigate all these loans.
