Arthur Young is a well known street figure with a checkered past. But these days he is a supervisor with the CYDP. Young has kept a low profile in more recent times, but this morning he was slapped with two criminal charges in court. The Cairo Street resident is accused of assaulting police officer, Sheddon Martinez on Wednesday. Young, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and using insulting words and is out on bail. The CYDP supervisor is due back in Court on March twentieth. Young has a long list of charges but has never been convicted. His most recent charges are for Possession of Prohibited Material and failing to report as a deportee. He maintained that he was targeted by the police every time he would report to the station and that’s why he stopped going. But Young has beaten far more serious offences, including two Murder charges.
this guy has that record and has a JOB with government, and I graduate from UB and for 2 years have been unable to find employment. something wrong!!!!!

I can see charging him with assault, but this ‘crime’ of ‘using insulting words’ is just rubbish, in my opinion. What have we stooped ourselves to, that we can’t even say what’s on our mind? If I feel like the ‘police officer’ is an IDIOT, I should be able to tell him that he is being an IDIOT.

I agree with you L C police in Belize are very stupid not all of them but most of them.Have u ever being at the police station wen they are writing a report? Its like a kindergarden and a circus at the same time.Police only bother nice people,they are scared of everyone else.worst if they are in uniform and at least six of them.
