Slippery fisherman crashes into boat

Glenford Young

A fisherman was also before the courts on charges relating to an accident on the river in the Conch Shell Bay area. Fifty-six year old Glenford Young reportedly crashed his twenty-five foot vessel into another boat parked in the area on January fourteenth. No one was injured, but Young was today charged for Proceeding on a River Voyage without a Sea Worthiness Certificate, Careless Navigation and Proceeding with an Unsafe Vessel. According to Belize Port Authority personnel, Young was driving the boat at a speed that was likely to have caused injuries. It is also considered unsafe that Young was handling a twenty-five foot vessel alone when he needed the assistance of at least one other person.  He pleaded guilty to all three charges and Magistrate Roberto Ordonez imposed fines totaling two thousand, one hundred dollars, to be paid by March thirteenth. If he defaults on payment, Young will spend one year and a week in prison.
