Oil Company to get concession for Corozal
There’s more news on oil exploration; the government announced today that a concession for exploration blocks in the Corozal District has been awarded to Manti Exploration and Production Company Limited. It is headquartered in Texas and also has operations in Louisiana, Canada and the South Pacific. The company, which has twenty years in the oil business, now has its eyes on the jewel and was chosen out of several applications reviewed in Cabinet on January twenty-fourth. According to a release from the Press Office, the general public has ten days to submit any objections to the granting of the concession and can do so in writing to the Geology and Petroleum Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment in Belmopan City. Objections can also be faxed to 802-3538 or emailed to geology@mnrei.gov.bz. The deadline is February twenty-ninth.
