Salvadoran National assaulted 10 year old
A Salvadoran national was convicted today of Aggravated Assault of an Indecent Nature and he’s going to jail for a year. The trial against thirty-seven year old Jose Cortez concluded just before noon in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith. He was found guilty following the testimony of the victim, a ten year old girl. According to the minor, on August seventh 2011 she went to buy corn from a neighbor and she was playing in the yard while it was being prepared. The little girl says Cortez came and pushed her down. He then pulled her legs apart and exposed himself to her, but when she started screaming neighbors came to her rescue. Cortez, who was unrepresented in court, denied the allegations. His version is that that he was urinating on a nearby fence and when he turned around, while zipping up his pants, the child was standing in front of him. But he says he never made any sexual advances on the little girl. Chief Magistrate Smith did not believe his story and he was sentenced to one year in prison since he is a first time offender.
So is this sexual predator going back to his OWN country when he gets out or is he going to stay rape more children because his vote will be needed in the next general elections? How many more of these fine individuals have been made citizens of Belize? Both UDP and PUP allows for these scumbags to come into our country to rape our children, our resources and our country by neglecting due diligence in making them citizens. We have enough problems with some of our own people why import more. They come into our country and because they are supported by some minister or the other they think they have more rights than born Belizeans.
We need to change the punishment for convicted sex attackers. They need to be imprisoned, yes, but ALSO castrated. It is the only way to prevent them from raping again when they get out of prison.
I am embarrased by this individual and hope that Belizeans generalize this behaviour to Salvadorans. I hope he is deported after he serves his time.
We have a strong and hard working Salvadoran populace in Belize.
So how imprisonment will solve his problem? He needs to show that he has undergone some psychological help so the crime is not repeated when he is released!
