Post Mortem results on man who died in police custody

Ricky Valencia

Ricky Valencia, one of the most feared street figures in the city, was killed on Wednesday night as he drove his vehicle on Caesar Ridge Road. Tonight, Belize City police are tonight no closer to solving the murder of twenty-eight year old Valencia. Despite interviewing several residents in the area of the Cumberbatch Field following the shooting incident, an arrest is yet to be made.  Valencia, who was awaiting trial for the attempted murder of attorney Rodwell Williams in 2010, was hit multiple times to the upper body including the left temple.  It is reported that the notorious member of the South Side Gangsters had been released from police custody a few hours prior to the fatal shooting.  Valencia had been held as a suspect in the robbery/stabbing of a courier near Swing Bridge during which seventy thousand dollars was stolen.

Miguel Martinez

Turning to the death of thirty-one year old Miguel Martinez on Tuesday; the San Pedro resident, was found dead in a holding cell at the San Pedro Police station. Less than twenty-four hours after he was detained for creating disturbance on the island, Martinez’s lifeless body was discovered clad only in a pair of boxers. While the family told News Five that Martinez was in good health; a post-mortem concluded that the cause of the death was acute lungs failure due to high alcohol and drug consumptions.

    Good riddance in both accounts.

San Pedro has way too many BZE City crackheads moving to the island and harassing tourists in order to feed their addictions.

Soon enough San Pedranos will get tired of it!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. DARLENE PEREZ says:

  4. OriginalWoman says:

All of a sudden his lung collaspes…well who is surprised??? After he was choked or strangled to death what else can one expect???? And crackhead or not, he was a human being foremost….All of you depending on tourists for your bread and butter.. Well one day, these same “rich”tourists will own some part of Belize and you won’t be able to sell them anything, or even step foot on their property….It is a sad state of affairs when a people of any country are more concerned and protective over foreigners than their own!!! My condolences to Mr. Martinez’s family and friends.

  5. Vuk says:

    @ “Islander”:

Stop babbling prejudiced crap. Not everyone who moves to your little island from Belize City is a “crackhead” or a “criminal who harasses tourists”. If they were, then it would have been *much* more apparent.

  6. Lebron James says:

    @Islander

you are as dense as a two dollar at Temptation Hill

  7. Yandeh says:

    One less criminal (Ricky) 🙂

  8. analyst says:

how about the fact that Estradabran is paid one thousand dollars per post mortem to come up with these ridiculous cause of death. you hear the statement this man was walking, moving from one location to the next, not intoxicated to the point of falling down in a ditch. when a person dies from alcohol intoxication it can be proven by blood alcohol level and it is usually due to respiratory depression due to the effect of the alcohol on the central nervous system, it has nothing to due with lung failure. estradabran is a quack that is paid by the police to produce what they want. as the cause of death. remember people it can happen to any one of our family member.this needs to change.

  9. kenrick theus says:

The first comment merely shows how racist San Pedranos are. Sad to know that little islanders think that they are better than anyone…what that is based on, no one is sure.

Belize is for Belizeans and people can live anywhere in Belize they choose to. Time ago the Police in san Pedro used to round up those not working and send them off the island. Would that same thing work anywhere else…say Belmopan or Succotz?? No it would not!!!!

Your racism is tolerated at the highest and it merely shows your inbreeding and lack of exposure to anything 21st. Century.

    ISLANDER IS AN IDIOT!!!

  10. truth says:

well to be honest, if the police or the law are not doing their job, all is talking and crying for justice, so let the police do his job, people who do wickedness need to be punish!

  11. GEORGE says:

It is always sad to loose a loved one, he was somebody’s son, brother and maybe father. It is tragic and unfortunate. We are all GOD’S children. It is important that we take steps to be more
loving to each other, and to our visitors who spend their mony and help our economy.
    PEACE AND LOVE!!!

  12. CHICAGORILLA says:

One of the most feared man in the city is now dancing with the devil. These are the same idiots that is terrorizing the city. You live by the gun, you die by the gun. It is what it is. One less terrorist is off the streets of Belize. Whoever the gun man was that pulled the trigger, more that likely, they too will meet the same faith. It’s just a matter of time. Karma is real.

  13. david96500 says:

@kenrick theus…i agree with you Islander is an Idiot. But he does not represent San Pedro!! I just “face booked you” and it surprises me that an educated man like your self would assume that one “poster” represents an entire island. I pray that you be more open minded. San Pedro Town is a melting pot. We have a population of about 20,000. Maybe 5000 are born locals, the rest comprise members from almost every town and village in Belize, Central America and beyond. They come where the money is, they come to retire, they come to invest..our local belizeans work hard so that they can send back money to their towns. Yes, it it the 21st century and we are the example of how many races can co-exist in harmony and productive and succesful…my condolences to the family of Miguel Martinez….
