Undocumented Salvadorans and Peruvian busted
Four Honduran nationals, who were caught in Belize without proper documents were each fined a thousand dollars last week and are currently awaiting expulsion. Another group of illegal immigrants had a similar fate when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer late Monday evening. Salvadoran nationals Melvin Omar Gonzalez Ramos and Manuel Gonzalez as well as Peruvian Manuel Anhel Oviedo were caught on Saturday at the Mile four checkpoint on the Western Highway.
The three men were on a bus heading into Belize City from Benque Viejo and when questioned by Immigration personnel, they could not present any passports; only identification cards with their names and particulars. They were jointly charged for Failure to Produce a Visitor’s Permit and all three pleaded guilty. Senior Magistrate Frazer fined them one thousand dollars to be paid forthwith, but none of them could come up with the cash and they were all remanded to the Belize Central Prison. An expulsion order was also granted and will be enforced either upon payment of the fines or after the immigrants serve a six month jail term.
Investigate the cops that are questioning pple for their documents. Simply because too many coincidences and ppl caught last week and this week. The police must be involved and in cahoots with the “coyotes” who put these ppl on the bus to Belize City and are supposed to meet them to take them the rest of the journey perhaps. So these police get a cut of the money these ppl may have paid for (or was stolen from them at the checkpoint) when they were asked for papers. INVESTIGATE!
Going to America no doubt.
