Man threatens to kill his significant other, a cop
And in court today, the ex common-law-husband of a police inspector accepted responsibility for threatening to kill her. Honduran national, thirty-five year old Pablo Martinez Herrera has lived in Belize for fourteen years and has permanent residency. But tonight, he is a resident at the Central Prison. Martinez appeared before Magistrate Hettie-Mae Stuart and was read a single charge of Using Threatening Words in connection with a domestic dispute with Inspector Aracelli Petillo. According to Petillo, Martinez went to her home on North Front Street at around eleven o’clock on Sunday night. He appeared intoxicated and asked her to open the door for him. But Petillo says she refused as she noticed Martinez was armed with a machete. He allegedly knocked on her window with the weapon and said “Ah wah kill yuh.” Petillo called the police and Martinez was quickly detained. Martinez did not dispute Petillo’s report and pleaded guilty to the charge. Magistrate Stuart sentenced him to two months in prison.
