Belizean Murdered in Melchor, Guatemala

A fourth persons has also been murdered, but across the border. He is twenty-five year old Jesias Aaron Samos. A family member has confirmed that Samos was hit in the head with a blunt object and that he was shot three times; one to the foot, chest and elsewhere. The incident happened at about twelve-thirty this morning, but he was on left on the streets in Melchor until hours later when a friend notified family members. Relatives say he died before they could take him to the hospital. His brother, Ajizer Samos, told us via phone from Melchor how the incident happened.

Ajizer Samos, Brother of Deceased

“Well he was living for the past two months here in Melchor—he found a girlfriend and he came here. She was out with some friends and then suddenly I have no idea what happened, but the forensic says he was knocked in the head and then he was shot on his hip, on his hand and then when they saw him agonizing; they just finished him and shot him on the chest by the heart.”

Andrea Polanco

“When did all of this happen?”

Ajizer Samos

“It happened last night—this morning at around 12:30 – 1:00.”

Andrea Polanco

“And which area is this in Melchor?”

Ajizer Samos

“It happened in front a restaurant called La Fugata.”

Andrea Polanco

“Do you know if your brother was involved in an argument with men in Melchor?”

Ajizer Samos

“Well according to the forensic details again, he was knocked on the forehead. But I have no idea—no one wants to talk, no one speaks. That’s the problem here. Even the police told me it’s a lost case because no one will say nothing.”

Andrea Polanco

“So you don’t know whether he maybe had problem with these guys before? Did he tell the family anything?”

Ajizer Samos

“No because he was just found dead and the thing is that several people—in talking to the girlfriend—said that they saw him but they just didn’t want to help and they won’t speak either. So I spoke with the police and the attorney here and they said it is a lost case because no one will speak.”

Samos is originally from Sarteneja but lived in Orange Walk; he was in Melchor for the past two months visiting his girlfriend.

A Belizean gets killed in public and none wants to talk so the authorities over there says its a lost case. Just bury that and that’s it. But a couple months ago our BDF soldiers, on defense of our patrimony’ ends up killing an illegal entrant steeling our natural resources and our Minister of Government is demanding an investigation? Now the Prime should say “Tit for Tat” and “Butter for Fish”.

  2. concerned belizean says:

Stay out of Guatemala they are a bunch of savages, even their own people are afraid to go back when they come to Belize. Life is so rough there that they will kill you for the simplest of things. RIP

Guatemala is a pig sty, I’m Happy to be a Belizean, I don’t want to live in that hostile pig pen with all those hogs. No Guatemalan that comes to Belize wants to go back we just go to see our family and to bring them here in Belize, So we can take over Belize. With the Black priminister and Mr. Penner all we guatemalans will be able to come here and get land for oyur votes. VIVA Belize soon to be run by US SUPERIOR REFUGEE

Jaime or whatever name you invent no matter the name you are still an @##. Now you are triying to make problems with the Guats but i bet you are one of the best custumers of those bars with the happy girls. I agree, that Guatemala is dangerous specially for Belizeans but no try to put things into people head.

I actually know the victim and his family very close, all I want to say is I send my thoughts and prayers their way, may he rest in peace. I hope some justice is served…I can’t believe he’s gone. damn

  6. belizecity-resident says:

Lesson learnt: Belizeans, never go live in Guatemala. No one will speak out for you. I was there one New Year’s eve, and almost became a victim innocently.

  7. PG resident says:

Let’s see if SEDI ELRINGTON will demand an investigation .

  8. YC says:

Recently, a guatemalan was killed on the belize side of the border and the guatemalan government was demanding an investigation.

Now the belize government should demand an investigation as well for this murder in melchor.

  10. I tell ya! says:

Yes, that is how it stands in Melchor. They kill just because of spite, without thinking twice. And this mostly happens because of women. This young man would be better off by sticking to a sweet Belizean girl. You go after a foreigner and you don’t know what life you should expect in her/his land.

I was attacked there once. I was completely innocent, minding my own business. By the grace of God I am alive!

Belizeans, stay out of Melchor. There are many good places to go. Buy in Belize, and if you still have to buy abroad, well, there is Chetumal.

La Fogata is a whore house, not a restaurant. They don’t sell burger there. What was he doing there if he had his girlfriend. Some man just can’t get enough of the good gurls that they still go to the sows, dirty nasty tasteless women. We have very beautiful and clean girls in Belize. We demand an investigation for the death of our brother. Prime Ministers has nothing to do with this you idiot subkonsous and jaime you need to continue supporting Caleb and don’t get involved with something where real men are involved. Be positive …!!!

  12. ASamos says:

I am so disheartened on my brothers death and appreciative for those who share my sentiments.
My brother is one more victim of the cruelty that exists especially in our neighboring country Guatemala. I did everything in my reach for the authorities to do something about his death, and how crazy it is for them to outrightly answer “it is a lost case, since no one will talk. This is how things operate here and if you try to do something or bring some external authority you might end up like him.”
It is sad how the authorities have no control and yet daily we have belizeans crossing the border to make purchases which helps them build bridges, pave their streets and put up street lights building its economy.
And I am sure that the belizeans that cross the border are scared, but yet they go and jeopardize thier lives.
I am not saying we should all stop going across the border, but I guess that our ambassador or our govenment should start demanding enforcement of better security especially in Melchor.
It is tragic and I hope that this news story and our coments don’t fall in deaf ears.
    Regards.
