Robbery at YWCA

The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is celebrating fifty-six years of service to the country.  But tonight there is not good news coming out of the Y. On Monday, a twenty-nine year old accountant, employed by the organization, reported to police that upon arriving at work around eight-thirty in the morning, she was robbed at gunpoint. According to the young lady, a dark complexioned man made his way to the second floor of the building, located at the corner of St. Thomas Street and Freetown Road, where he relieved her of two cash pans, one containing a hundred and seventy Belize dollars and the other an undisclosed sum of money.  The thief also made off with a wallet belonging to General Secretary Sonia Linares which contained an additional one hundred and fifty dollars in cash.  Police are investigating the robbery.

It’s a sin and shame that these lazy criminals have to stoop to this level of robbing an institution that strives hard to give young women a skill and education which they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise…damned these criminals to hell!!!
