No witch hunt for former F.F.B. President, Dr. Bertie Chimilio

BErtie Chimilio

Vicente also says that the F.F.B. wants to work with Chimilio since he still represents football with several organizations.  But regarding the empty bank account, and a lack of financial statements for the past decade, Vicente says that a commission of inquiry will review last year’s financial statements, whenever they become available.

Ruperto Vicente, President F.F.B.

“Because we don’t want the executive of the Federation being involved and engaged in any investigative matters, we’re going to commission a commission of inquiry to look at irregularities in the finances of the Football Federation of Belize. But we are still waiting for the financial report from Dr. Chimilio. We are expecting that report this week.”

Jose Sanchez

“You mentioned, I believe, a couple million dollars that the F.F.B. received over the past couple years. Is that correct?”

Ruperto Vicente

Ruperto Vicente

“Yeah. Last year we got one point eight million dollars. we have reports that indicate how those monies were spent and so we’re going to accept it for what it is. It is amazing that we found contracts for the general secretary. The statues clearly declares or indicates that the general secretary life in the federation comes with that of the president. If the president is removed then the general secretary goes as well. So the new president always according to the statues appoints his general secretary. And in this case, the past general secretary has a contract until 2015. So we are reviewing that contract and to see the legality or illegality of that contract.”

Jose Sanchez

“Being that you should choose your general secretary, who would it be assuming you would get the opportunity to do so shortly?”

Ruperto Vicente

“Well I have appointed my general secretary and he is Mr. Michael Blease. He has a wealth of knowledge about football and I believe he is going to be an asset to the F.F.B.”

Michael Blease

Jose Sanchez

“So going back to what you said, there is no paperwork on how monies were spent; no paperwork on what monies would be coming from? You don’t have anything.”

Ruperto Vicente

“We don’t have any paperwork to indicate to us how monies were spent and we’re gonna have to establish those things. We do not have that and as soon as monies begin to roll into the F.F.B., we are going to set up a system that’s going to show the public how  our monies are spent.”

Jose Sanchez

“But just to be assured, you are not looking for any legal matters against Mr. Chimilio, the former president or is that something that you’ll also be looking at?”

Ruperto Vicente

“Definitely not. We are not going to take Dr. Chimilio to court and I’m gonna say that. Football, in fact FIFA does not encourage that kind of thing. You know, whatever irregularities may have found, we’re gonna have to forward it to FIFA and then FIFA will advise us on the steps to take when it comes to Dr. Chimilio.”

The F.F.B. executive is also going to Budapest for the CONCACAF extraordinary congress to be held on May twenty-third. During this time they will have a private session with the FIFA president at the FIFA congress which will be held on the twenty fourth.

Joe Lopez — no need to put race in this.. Its so unfortunate that Dr. Chimilio acted the way he did but his personal behavior does not have anything to do with him being a Garifuna or Black.

A lot was done under the previous PUP administration nobody seh da because they are hispanic — or white spanish they did what they did!!!!!!!!!! (Note: I only mentioned that to make a point. Also I have nothing against persons from the previous administration — nor the current government.)

NO WONDER CHIMILLIO LIVED A GOOD LIFE, LIKE THOSE FROM HOLLYWOOD,
SO SAD, HE STOLE SO MUCH FROM BELIZE FOOTBALL.

NO WONDER OUR BELIZE NEVER DID GET TO WIN A WORLD CUP,

I PRAY UNDER MR VICENTE WE SEE A DIFFERENCE IN FOOTBALL, WE HAVE SO MANY TALENTED YOUNG PERSON WAITING FOR AN OPEN DOOR TO SHOW WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR BELIZE.

  7. CEO says:

Joe Lopez that was a dumb comment. You have a small mind! We are akll Belizeans. We have a country to build one federation at a time!

Vincent one word of advise if you are going to seek a new direction you need to blaze a new trail and distance yourself from those that did nothing for football in Belize!

  8. F. Magaña says:

My hope is that the new F.F.B. does what is right for the players, the country and growth of football in general. There is a lot of talent in this country and we need cultivate the future Belizean Football.
The under 10, 12,15 and 17 should have competitions and programs that develop the seeds of tomorrow! That should be our priority as a country.

People you have done wrong will fall by their own weight ( I think that it only Mr. Chimilo)!

My ppl we can’t squeeze lemon juice out of a rock, I’ve played football in every district in Belize I’ve followed Belizean football my whole life the game of football has grown far beyond what we Belizean can ever imagine, face it we cannot compete with the world, oh yeah, try CONCACAF then. Chimillio is a brilliant chap and no one can take that away from him, the media (Amandala) has posion the minds of us Belizeans and yes he’s no angel, many of Belizeans has wronged us. Chimillio has left his mark in Belizean football.
My fellow Belizeans this black on black assaults will only last for a while, the blacks population in BZE is declining and the day will come when we’ll be a minority in our used to be country and we’ll wonder what happened, for example, “Where did Joe Lopez parents came from”?…..hmmmmmm

  11. vicente castillo says:

Joe Lopez, you know of any white Garifuna (Albinos aside) dumb, racist fool!

  12. alley cat says:

FIFA is one of the most corrupt organizations out there. Just google or search FIFA and corrupt…. Oh and just about everything said about Bertie is true… He really live high off the hog but that is what FIFA promotes…

  13. Retired CEO says:

It is so sad we are so quick to call each other racists and all the dumb name calling crap. What is important here is that we identify a spade for what it is whether it is garfifuna, balck etc. We must absolutely identify this for what it truly is, period!!!! In my humble opinion this individual clearly behaved arrogantly and unscroupously. In short, I aggree with Joe in principle, and by all means an investigation ought to be conducted with this Mr. Chimillio being the main target.

  14. football lover says:

If chim is aloud to get away with his crookery and corruption then we should all expect the same from this new administration……

  15. proud belizean says:

while i applaud the change in the FFB, i am saddened and concerned about the message being sent by the new president. Something must be done to recover the lost monies. I hope the audit is only the first step. People need to be held accountable who ever they are. It is not only and injustice the the FFB but and injustice to all Belizeans. If this goes unchecked then it’s like we are saying it’s okay to rob, loot and plunder the FFB. “MISAPPROPRIATE ” , as much as you want as it’s your money.
