Belize City man convicted of seriously beating a child

A Belize City man has been convicted of seriously beating a child in his care. According to reports on June eighth, 2011, twenty year old Carldeen Lawrence, was caring for his two step children ages one and two years old, but when the mother came home, she observed that the two year old’s foot was swollen. The child was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where a doctor confirmed that she had a fractured leg. He also stated that the there was evidence of child neglect because the child had parasites in her hair. In his defense, Lawrence chose to remain silent and only revealed during cross examination that he beat the child with a belt. Magistrate Hettie Mae-Stuart told Lawrence that “Upon hearing witnesses of the prosecution, I am satisfied that the prosecution discharged the burden of proof and that there is evidence of grievous harm established against you. I have no doubt that you committed the crime.” In mitigation, Lawrence asked the court for leniency stating that this is his first offense. Magistrate took into consideration his clean record and imposed a fine of eight hundred dollars to be paid by May fifteenth or in default, eight months in prison. Both children are now with their biological father.
Why you take woman with kids if you no want them? Like this man they are so many all over the country! The magistrate did a very good job. You no have a clean record now. He needs to get punch by the real father.
We are all quick to assume that the real father is a saint and will care for his children the way they should be.
Me no like deal with no woman that have kids. Only time me deal with women who have kids ,da when the kids done big and a no have fi deal with no craziness. Single moms should remain single , the pa no want you fi wa reason. As for the child being beat , he should learn control, they are many ways to discipline a child without hurting them.
@done say it….I am a single parent I was married to my husband for 14 yrs. d reason we separated was becuz he couldn’t control his pants he was a cheater so I guess u think before u put crop on this blog. As for d convicted felon u never abuse a child they r innocent if u don’t love d kids then don’t take a woman with kids
Don Say it you are and Ignorant A** the pa no want the kids because he is not a man he is just a sperm donor. It takes a real man to be a father and many stepfathers raise their step children with love. Right now most of the so call “men” out there just want a good time that is why so many children are growing up on the streets without a father and the mother has to be out working to raise the child. These no good men need to start taking the responsibility and not get the woman pregnant if they don’t want to be a father. If you are having sex and not using protection then you should be man enough to take care of the child you father.
Everyone is quick to believe what they hear instead of asking questions did anybody hear what the news said it said “he beat the child with a belt until her foot was fractured ” now how can a belt do that i was at the court case when it first stared and I know the mother of the child and she explain what happen in court not belt was ever mention she said he was closing the door when the youngest child was behind him but he did not know when he was turning around he was going to fall on her but he span to avoid her and fell on the other daughter instead so don’t be so quick to judge cause it could have been you
