Ministry of National Security says an apology is all Taylor’s Alley residents will get

On Thursday night, the Taylor’s Alley affiliates told News Five that a government apology for the March twenty-first incident when they were brutalized and injured was not cutting it. In fact, they claimed they first heard it on the news and that the apology was silent on the issue of compensation for the medical bills they incurred. Having extended the olive branch on Wednesday, tonight the Ministry of National Security is saying it will not go beyond the public apology. A release this afternoon says the purpose for the swift decision to conduct an investigation was to show that there would be zero tolerance for police brutality. And according to the Ministry, even while the Commission of Inquiry found there was excessive use of force, the members felt that the evidence collected would not stand up in a court of law or a disciplinary tribunal. The ministry urges the Taylor’s alley residents to move forward. As to the threat for legal action, well the government says “Those who may feel that they still need to seek recompense are free to do so in a Court of Law.” The release concludes by saying that mechanisms are being put in place to deal with police brutality in every instance and that to attempt to address previous allegations would open an unending litany of investigations at a time when the resources of the Department ought to be used to address the rising tendency to violent, anti-social behavior.  On the night of March twenty-first, the Gang Suppression Unit and the police rained down on Tailor’s Alley. At least six persons were badly beaten; some ended in the hospital. A three man commission then found that the excessive and unjustifiable force was used.

NO MORE APOLOGIES OR TRUCES WITH GANGS. WHAT IS THE PM OR POLICE MINISTER THINKING ?? WHAT ABOUT THE LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AND FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES TAKEN AWAY.. WHO APOLOGIZES OR DEFENDS THEM ? ITS BECOMING A COUNTRY WHERE THE GANGS SUE AND WE MAKE TRUCES WITH THEM AND ARE AFRAID OF THEM AND WE PROTECT MORE THEIR RIGHTS,,,ITS A SHAME.. THE GSU IS THE BEST THING THAT WE HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THESE SCUMBAGS..WE KNOW WHERE THEY ARE LETS CLEAN IT.. IF WE CANNOT CONTROL A CITY OF 75,000 RESIDENTS WITH THIS CRIME RATE IMAGIN WHEN WE BECOME A MILLION.. ITS INCOMPETENCE.. BRAVO GSU…

  2. Swamp Dragon says:

These people are hiding the criminals. That makes them criminal as well. Why the uproar about these people. The govt should seize properties of drug houses. Evict these people controlling alleys and entire city blocks in order to sell they drugs and intimidate the neighbors. Where is the outrage for the innocent hard working families putting up with these gangs out of fear!? F&^% these people. When left alone they intimidate and purport violence. When the GSU rush in they all start to cry. Too little too late, Your own actions shall determine your quality of life. How will you live your life today?

when a minister go to make deal and apologize to so call gang members. This crap is you get, losers who really think they run things.Ministers need to get out of the way and let the police do thier job.

  4. CEO says:

NOW WHO THE HECK THESE DAM IDOTS THINK THEY ARE? The cops being a little too heavy handed and appologising for that does not make the crap they do correct.

The police just need to keep it legal and keep it humane but they should not let up on them for a minute.

Government APOLOGIZED to criminals of George Street and Taylors Alley that not only kill each other but also kill innocent bystanders (including children) in the crossfire?? These same monsters that have crippled young children with their bullets and are poisoning the minds of our youths with the drugs they peddle???

meanwhile the canefarmers didnt get any sympathy, much less apologies (or compensation) when one of their own was gunned down during a demonstration in BSI over their working conditions…..???

a bunch of unarmed, hardworking belizeans who lost a comrade deserve less than a pack of murderous drug pushers that got a bit of their own medicine?? Bravo Barrow… nice move!!! perhaps next time the canefarmers will behave like criminals so that GOB offers them an apology!!

Keep the heat on GSU….. a group like you we need to really effectively combat these assassins…. not lame duck legislations like banning tints and other stupid new laws that have flagrantly failed!!!
