Fire Service gets a Boot Boost
The Belize National Fire Service received a donation of ten pairs of fire boots this morning. The boots are the first part of twenty pairs received by the Belize City Council through sister city relations with Michigan. They were donated to the city council by, Vern Bern, who is also a fire-fighter of that state. The items are valued around seven thousand dollars and were handed over to the Fire Service by Councilor Philip Willoughby.
Phillip Willoughby, Councilor, Belize City Council
“As an initiative on behalf of Mayor Darrell Bradley, in partnership and working with agencies and business across Belize City in meeting with the Fire Chief, in their preliminary discussions they came up with an initiative to donate some boots. These were donated today, this morning on behalf of the mayor of Belize City, as his project in support of the national fire service.”
Col. Francis Thomas, Fire Chief, BNFS
“Ten boots is definitely a plus to help the deficiency that we presently have. These ten boots definitely come at a good time as we are presently conducting multiple trainings. Presently we have an intake in one of 2012, about twenty three recruits. We had ordered their kits but those haven’t arrived as yet so these boots come just in time for the recruits to use them during training and then continue on after training.”
How insulting and stupid to Belizeans that we receive 10 pair of fire boots as a gift and Gapi Vega and Idi Amin Barrow just spent over 300,000 for new vehicles with the blessings of Amandala.
