Before dying, Jorgensen identifies his murderer

Christopher Jorgensen

The other murder victim is eighteen year old Christopher Jorgensen, who was shot on Saturday at the Jane Usher Boulevard basketball court.  Jorgensen was hospitalized until Wednesday when he succumbed to the gunshot injuries. The alleged shooter has been identified as twenty year old Keyron Johnson, a resident of Jane Usher Boulevard. Johnson was charged late Wednesday evening with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.  This afternoon, the charges were upgraded to Murder. Johnson was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until May seventeenth. Before succumbing to his injuries, Jorgenson reportedly identified his shooter as Johnson.  Jorgensen was shot on Saturday night at about eight p.m. while playing basketball on the court across from his house on Curl Thompson Street. Two men rode up on bicycle and one of them pulled the trigger, firing several shots, which caught Jorgenson in the midsection. The other three murder victims since Saturday are twenty-four year old Rudy Maroquin, twenty-five year old Clifton Flores and fifty-one year old Darrington Rivers.

Hang him high no less hang him.

Convict Johnson, then stretch his neck until he is dead, dead, dead. Murderers must ALL be executed. No mercy, no exceptions.

I thought the victim was expected to survive the wound. It is no defence to the crime of murder, of course, but I think some responsible official in the health ministry should inquire into why the poor man died from what was believed to be a survivable wound. Belize has suffered through more than just the current GOB from inferior health care, and it really is a national disaster we suffer every day.

I think our chosen leaders MUST keep and eye on such an important part of the government’s activities.
