Elsworth Hendy charged for forcing himself on a minor

A thirteen year old school girl has reported that she was sexually abused over the weekend by a young man who she knows well. Tonight, an alleged suspect is behind bars.  He is twenty year old Elsworth Hendy of Belize City. Hendy was unrepresented when he appeared before the Senior Magistrate, Sharon Frazer this morning and was charged with Rape. He was denied bail as he has a pending fine before the court for a drug related conviction and he was remanded until June first. The alleged victim reported that on Friday night sometime between nine and nine thirty she was at a shop when she was approached by Hendy. He took her into a nearby house where he forced himself on her. The minor went home and told her mother what had happened. Her mother immediately escorted her to the Queen Street Police Station to make a report. A doctor has confirmed the girl has been carnally known.
