Gunman’s mother busted for Firearm

Judith Rocke

South Side gangster, thirty year old Jermaine “Horse” Garnett Senior was shot on the left shoulder shortly before five o’clock on Tuesday evening. Within an hour, the suspected gunman, twenty-seven year old Gion “Gizmo” Bernard, was in police custody. He was charged on Wednesday for the Attempted Murder of Garnett, but he is also facing firearm offences along with his mother, Judith Rocke; brother, Michael Herrera as well as Shane Crawford. That’s because after Bernard was detained, Rocke’s house on Castle Street was searched by police. The cops found a nine millimeter Sig Sauer Pistol, believed to have been used in the shooting, and five rounds of ammunition on a table. Herrera was detained since he was present at time of the search, Rocke is being charged because it’s her house and Crawford will also be charged because his social security card was found at the house.

Gion Bernard

While Bernard is already behind bars, Rocke and Herrera were arraigned this morning for Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition without a Gun License. They both pleaded not guilty and were remanded to the Central Prison. Before leaving the court, Rocke explained to Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, that Bernard had said that he would plead guilty to the firearm offences, but he was not brought to court today. Her attorney, Dickie Bradley, is currently working on a bail application because Rocke, a nurse for twenty-six years, stands to lose her job if she remains in prison. Meanwhile, Crawford has not yet been arrested.

I’m not too sympathetic with someone who lives with a gangster or lets him hide his criminal tools in her home, mother or otherwise. In my book, criminals need aiders and abettors to prolong their ugly careers.

  2. RadicalBelizean says:

Victim? or accomplice? I am not sure. Maybe he hide the gun at his mother believing that her house would not be searched. Difficult?

  3. Out of Order says:

Why couldn’t they postpone the case until the was brought to court? Because of this new gun law a lot of innocent people will see prison. Mothers if you know your children are into these illegal activities GET THEM OUT YOUR HOUSE!!!! Yes you love your kids but are you willing to go to jail because of there lifestyle?????

  4. chyla says:

Come on people we need to know the facts before we start judging people and condemning them for something they are innocent of. Ms. Judith is a hard working mother and like many cannot give account of what their adult chidren does when they are or are not around. While we want to maintain law and order it is unfair for innocent esp hard working people to be faced with these charges. I am not saying that what her son did was right but she was not even at home at the time of the search and was not at home days prior to the search how could she have known what was happening at home. Ms J i sympathize with you and know that you were dealt with unfairly. Justice will prevail and in no time you will be out of there. It’s an experience i know you didn’t have in mind and you won’t be comfortable with but pray for strength and protection. After all this is over you know that there are a lot of changes that needs to be made and as any mother would you wouldn’t want to put your children out int he streets but sometimes we gotta show them tough love.

I hope the ……. now has some conscience that his Mother is behind bars because of him being a !@#$%^& idiot….Whether or not the Mother is an accomplice, this will now force her to keep her kid in check.

  6. now i see says:

I know its bad to say something about the mother BUT,i have to say she has the fault of whatever she has comming this pease of garbage was one time a kid.( something she did wrong) Where was the father? I really hate when a woman wants society to feel sorry for them because they are single mothers, and then you ask:how many kids? And they say 3,4,5 sometimes even 6. How can you have so many kids and no man in your life? And whats the worst every single one have a diferent father! You think its right for us to deal with it? Because they have a hot crutch.? Or, no information about condoms etc. Another thing acording to the news the gun was on the table. He didnt even hide it so, she was used of seen the gun in her house. He dont love or care for his mother because he knows that all of you will be sorry for her. Didnt you guys see? Dicky for lawyer. Crime looks like really pay. I see people that work their @&& and if they ever get in trouble i dont think they could aford him.

  7. lunar says:

i agree fully with “OUT OF ORDER” what if the mother didn’t know her son was hiding a gun in her house.
lots of people wouldn’t know if someone is hiding a gun in there homes until something happens

  8. belizeanpride says:

“a bad child make his mom shameful publicly” my grandma use to say and it’s true but some ladies don’t get the idea, they like to take part in their sons bad actions which make them look bad. bet she knew what her son was up to unless she’s a kind that doesn’t give a damn about her sons. good for her let her at least for 6 months so others can learn from her.

  9. Aware ghetto youth says:

The law is unfair, this lady is a hard working woman she should not be held accountable for her sons actions. Others will say she should have thrown him out but put on her shoes and live her life before you judge others.

  10. Happy says:

Have to be fugly Dicky to defend criminals………excuse the language!!! ^_^
