Sunday night fare leaves cab driver and minor as shooting victims

There was other violence over the weekend. A cab driver and his passenger almost lost their lives when several shots were fired at about eleven on Sunday night. They are both lucky to be alive. The police press officer says that the victims are fully cooperating with the investigators.

“Police visited the K.H.M.H. where they saw Kevin Young, a taxi driver, suffering from a single gunshot wound and a sixteen year old minor who was also injured. Young reported to the police that he was on Neal’s Pen Road and upon reaching the junction of Monroe Street, he stopped to pick up four friends when two men on a red motorbike approached them and opened fire on them causing injuries to himself and the sixteen year old minor. They are at the K.H.M.H. listed in serious condition.”

“Are there any indications if the minor or the taxi man himself was the intended target?”

“Well, we cannot say as yet, but we have cooperation from all persons that were affected by this incident and hopefully they can shed some light to investigators what actually was the intent of the two young men.”

“Do we know as yet if the taxi man was robbed—to see if that was a motive?”

“No, they were not robbed.”

In Roaring Creek, Henry Flores, a Belize City resident, was also shot early this morning. Flores was shot on the right shoulder as he slept on a sofa. The gunman opened fire through the glass front door.
