Tropicana style murder and shooting of Mayen brothers
By the time the weekend was over, three persons had been murdered. In the Old Capital, two were shot and killed. Car dealer Anthony Mayen and his two brothers left Tropicana Lounge, where they had been partying, at about four o’clock on Sunday morning. As soon as they got into their vehicle, they were ambushed by two armed men. Anthony did not survive the multiple shots that hit him on various parts of his body. One of his brothers was also injured, while the other was unharmed. Police say they are following all leads in their investigation. News Five’s Jose Sanchez reports.

The Tropicana Lounge, near the cruise tourism port, was the scene of a Sunday morning murder that took the life of forty two year old Anthony Mayen.

Mayen and his brothers were shot at repeatedly after they got into this old model Mercedes Benz.

“Sometime around four a.m. yesterday morning, Anthony Mayen and his brothers exited Tropicana Lounge and upon entering his Mercedes Benz that was parked not too far from Tropicana Lounge, two armed men on foot opened fire on them hitting Mayen several times all over the body. Mayen was transported to K.H.M.H. where he succumbed to his injuries. Another person that was with him, Darren Mayen, received a gunshot wound—not critical—he is admitted to ward at the K.H.M.H.”

“Jose, I’m unable to comment on that. This is a very young investigation, very delicate investigation and we hope to make an arrest in this. So we will just leave it open.”

“Is there any indication that it may be gang related or drug related?”

“Well, we are still looking for a motive; I wouldn’t want to speculate.”

“Has the Mayen family been cooperated with you—the brother, Darren, who is in a stable condition?”

“Let’s leave that part for the investigators. Like I said, this is very early in the investigation and we know how the streets are brutal to witnesses. So it’s best we just leave certain comment out.”

“Do we know how many shots were fired at that grey Mercedes Benz?”

“All I can say at this time is several.”
The car, riddled with holes, tells the tale that Anthony Mayen received three wounds to the abdomen, one to the chest, two to the right arm pit, one to the right side of his back, and one to the right arm. The car dealer’s brother, Darren, was grazed while Kirk Mayen was lucky to remain unharmed. Reporting for News Five, Jose Sanchez.
The matriarch of the family arrived from the United States late this evening. The family declined to comment.
The murders must be stopped — give the killers a fair conviction, and hang them all. No mercy, no exceptions.
These are Spanish that means no one will be found for these murders and even if they are they will get off as usual belizeans we are now moving into a race war in Belize if you black you could committ any crime and get off if you no black you can get away with murder or you can bring in containers of illegal drugs and if you get caught all you have to say is you didn’t order that and you gone free so to all belizeans who are not black watch out.
I really don’t know what kind of investigation the police did with regards to this murder but they sure have all the information wrong. First off, he was not partying at Tropicana. He was sleeping and called out of his bed and told that his car had been riddled with bullets in front of the Tropicana nightclub. He came out to check up on things and after they were able to start the car they took off; he in his and his girl in the bullet riddled car. Sadly, shortly after, the car was involved in another accident around the Marine Parade. Since he and his wife were involved in a dispute he simply went ahead with two of his companions with him. What happened thereafter remains unknown since the two people with him refuse to talk. Everything that happened is quite strange!

Did you note the part where she said “and our governments are very much the same”? When will you blind Belizeans realize that this is exactly what your masters and your masters masters want? This method has served them well in the days when slavery was king and it is obviously serving them well now. Let the slaves fight amongst themselves and let them kill each other and surely they will not have the time to look around and see the misery that their masters have them living in. We fight amongst each other and envy each other for the little that our masters allow us and we don’t take the time to realize that the only way that you can control your slaves is by dividing them like live stock, the house slaves or Uncle Tom’s snitching and fighting against the field slaves.

THEY NED TO CHECK HIS PHONE CALL TO SEE WHY HE LEFT WITHOUT TELLING THE SPOUSE HE WAS GONG HOME, AND THATS IF HE WENT HOME, BECAUSE PEOPLE SAW HIM ON HIS PHONE OUTSIDE OF THE CLUB. MAYBE IT COULD BE THAT PERSON WHO LOWER HIM TO HIS DEATH.
To MJB – I agree with u about questioning the type of investigation the police is or are doing with Anthony Mayen’s murder but i wouldn’t say they have all their information wrong because obviously they have no information at all. YOU on the other hand should be investigated because u surely seems to know a lot. How do u know he was sleeping when he got a call and not at Tropicana partying when many people saw him there, which he was, with his common law wife. You also mentioned several incidents which had occurred during that night that not many people would know. Everything does seem quit strange and You surely seem to know a lot why not help the police with the investigation since they are in desperate need of it.
