11 girls say Bert Vasquez tried to get them in his car

A massive emotional crowd spilled into the streets in front of the San Ignacio police station on Wednesday, for the arraignment of Bert Vasquez. The Belize City businessman was charged for the murder of Jasmine Lowe, the vivacious young girl who was found dead on June sixth near a farm at Cristo Rey. But that is not the end of Vasquez’s troubles. This morning the crowd was reduced but there was still tension when he was escorted for the second time to the Magistrates Court. Eleven minors from the San Ignacio area are claiming that Vasquez attempted to lure them into his car, at times offering money and more charges are likely to follow. Vasquez has been living in San Ignacio for three months; he has been out on Supreme Court bail for a charge of Forcible Abduction since February. Freelance reporter Duane Moody was back in San Ignacio today and has this report.

“Twenty-four hours ago, this main thoroughfare in San Ignacio Town in front of the Police Station; was blocked by at least a thousand persons lay-waiting, demanding to see the man that has been charged for the murder of one of their youth; thirteen year old Jasmine Lowe. That man, twenty-eight year old Bert Vasquez, was charged yesterday for the single count of murder. But it appears that many other young girls from the Twin Towns here in the West were targeted by Vasquez.”

Yes he has been charged for the murder of Jasmine Lowe, but then we still have all the other little girls that are accusing him and we want to see this to follow through to the end. So that’s why we are still here. Yes, the crowd is a little small, but we believe that the people will come because they want to see it through too and we have been out here for three days.”
The crowd grew at around two-forty-five this afternoon when Bert Vasquez was taken to court and charged with a total of thirteen counts. But just before he was to be read the charged the courtroom was cleared of the media and public because the victims are minors. Moments later, Vasquez asked to speak with the media and public; but this was refused.

But the media nevertheless got comment from Vasquez as he was being whisked away to the Central Prison and this is what he had to say:

More charges are likely to be placed on him. Officer Commanding the San Ignacio Formation, Senior Superintendent Chester Williams explains.

“Yesterday, you told us at your press conference that as you were there; that there were several persons coming forth saying more. Is this man going to be charged maybe even more with other counts of aggravated assault or whatever it is?”

“Yes, umm, as we were taking him to court, we received two additional complaints. So what we will be doing is that those other matters will be logged before the court and when he will be taken to court on the fourth of July; those additional charges will be read to him.”
But his detention would not have been possible without the vigilance and support of the community working with the police.

Vasquez is to return to court on July fourth for today’s charges, but the police have requested a short adjournment to the nineteenth and trial for August eighth since the victims are in school. For the Murder charge, he is to go to court on August fourteenth.
I was expecting to see at least 50charges.
I am in no way a supporter of Bert Vasquez….he is a pervert to the core, but what I don’t understand about this whole case is why are they charging him with murder when the cause of death could not be determine????? Looking at this whole thing from so many angles I can already see that he will walk. Police said they found the girl’s ring in his vehicle…unless they can get his finger print from that ring, I’d say it was place in that vehicle to frame.

I believed hes being frame. Some one is setting him up. A real criminal’s will not leaved evidences behind… i do not believed theses stories. P.s. i do not know this guy and im not taking sides. The stories just dont make sense. The father’s house burglarized and he said with his own mouth her jewelery box is missing. If bert have a good lawyer he can walk free. Theres no logic in this story.

Maybe deep inside him he wanted to get caught. With a history like his is pretty hard to get frame. Now he wants to speak to the media that means he wants attention a real serial killer. Lets not panic and wait.
Offenders usually keep something from the victim as a prize sort of, to remind them of what they did.
If you have studied documented cases of serial killers, serial predators you would know that they usually take a token by which to remember their victims, also when they find a routine that works for them they do not change it and keep using the exact same routine over and over.
This two things are true of Bert Vasquez.
On top of that if any ordinary law abiding citizen was charged with such a crime and accused of so many other crimes, that law abiding citizen would be stressed out and devastated….INSTEAD BERT VASQUEZ WAS SMILING…..

Prior to arresting this pedophile the police department should have search his residence and seize all his computers if he has any.because there is always the possibility that his relatives in Belize City or anyone who has access to his house can dispose of evidence that might be crucial to the ongoing investigation.Also check his facebook account.

After less than 48 hours of this child reported as missing he reports that the body is too decompose to determine the cause of death, I have been saying for a long time that this guy is a fraud, he is no pathologist. yet the police just sign a NEW BIG contract with him a few weeks ago. if we had a real forensic pathologist we probably would not be here, a rape kit with DNA evidence would have put away a serial rapist/killer a long time ago. and for this sorry state of affairs in this department both gaovernments are fully responsible

IN THIS CASE I think GOB must retain some better expert to review the data, maybe even perform a second autopsy. Bullets leave evidence, knives leave evidence, even strangulation leaves evidence that survives total decomposition of a body. Apparently Dr. Estradabran doesn’t know the science of examination of a body no matter what the state of decomposition, or he doesn’t care about anything but his contract fee, or worse, he can be bought off. I don’t know what his problem is, but Belize deserves better and so does Jasmine Lowe.
By the way, I am a retired public prosecutor from the States who has visited Belize maybe 50 times in the last 30 years, so I have both a great affection for the country and familiarity with its crime problem, and some actual idea of how to investigate a murder and convict a killer.
Justice demands a competent, experienced second opinion in this case, and the good citizens of Belize should demand that their government obtain one.
There are retired coroners in the U.S. who can determine a cause of death in this case if GOB doesn’t wait too much longer to ask them to examine the remains and evidence.
I think Rose is the mother, the side kick or the lawyer of the Bert Vasquez, or someone devoid of a clue.

How come there is little to no coverage about the minor found in his presence at the time of his arrest, how come no charges have been brought against him along with the murder charge.

Ok, so all these killing going on, makes everyone sick! I don’t live home(Belize) but I am a true Belizean, that love my country and wish to come back home to live with my husband and kids. But the fact remains that all these killing, just makes you not want to never come back home to live. I have friends that visit home and wish to go back home to visit, but reading the news all they talked about is the killing and crime of my country. Do you know how I feel when they talked about my country like that. Ashame, heart broken every other word you can think about. I say we stand up, we fight back, do the same to them as they do to us! If its war they want, then we provide one back to them! I say we come together and lets kill their @$$ back! Believe me its not that hard to bring a hit man to do it! It is my hope that parents across our country will teach their children NOT to get into strangers car and NOT to go anywhere with strangers. If anybody ask them for help tell them to ask an adult, and if someone in a car approach them or is following them, to get the licence plate number and report it to their teacher, or parent or another adult who would then rport it to the police.

So what about the taxi driver that was found with scratches?
Macal, keep in mind that Belize is a democratic nation and it is governed by the Consttution (The Supreme Law of The Land). Every accused criminal in our country is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Bert Vasguez is an accused criminal. He is entitled to a lawyer and a jury of his peers as guaranteed in the Belize constitution. In addition, law is a professional practice. People go to law school to prepare themselves to defend accused persons or to proove their guilt. Lets not rush to judgement. So far, we have only heard the police side of the story. Given the current state of the national police in Belize, we have to be very careful about who we believe is tellling the truth. I am in no way defending Bert Vasguez. I just haven’t heard his side of the story. So far, things just aren’t adding up. A youg girls killed, then her fathers’ home is broken into, her jewelry box is stolen, her father was at home but slept thru the entire ordeal and her ring is found with the accused killer.Hmm, random murderers have a tendency to visit their victims homes? Did he even know where she lived. Lets keep watching. Some interesting new developments may be forthcoming.
