Woman with undeclared US $45,000 cash in carry-on luggage
A Belizean businesswoman living in the United States was busted at the Philip Goldson International Airport with a substantive amount U.S. dollars. Jane Rose Cheung, a resident of Mississippi, arrived on an eleven o’clock flight on Thursday. She was carrying over forty-five thousand U.S. dollars in cash which she had failed to declare as is required. Customs and police also found on her a Travelers cheque for one thousand, five hundred U.S. dollars. This morning forty-one year old Chueng was taken to court for failure to declare funds greater than ten thousand dollars Belize, which in her case would have been eighty thousand dollars above the prescribed amount. Chueng appeared before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Frazer and was represented by attorney, Dickie Bradley. She pleaded not guilty. There was no objection to bail, however, the police prosecutor asked the court to set conditions. Bradley, on her behalf, asked the court to consider a reasonable bail and that the matter be set for speedy trial, so that his client can go back home. Senior Magistrate Frazer, who granted bail in the sum of sixty thousand dollars, ordered Chueng to surrender all her travel documents to the Clerk of Court and she can only travel if there is some form of emergency. Chueng met the bail conditions and was released. Her stay in Belize has been extended at least until September when the case is tentatively set for trial. Cheung claims she is from the Lord Bank’s area.

I wonder what “emergency” will get her out of the clutches of the law and back to sanctuary in Mississippi. She doesn’t resemble any Cheung I’ve ever seen!
what the hell was she thinking????
This is really funny we the catch the Americans tha airport but we the let the Chinese come in illigally do these customs officers have any kind of training at all. It really makes you wonder if there is anyone in this gov. Who is competent we have literally gone to the dogs.
Funny how we can make certain arrests and convictions….
BUT YET MURDERERS ARE WALKING THE STREETS KILLING AS I TYPE THIS.
She is wearing a Westrac uniform. Maybe the police should look into that connection.
Good eyes, Eye in the Sky.
So please tell me where is the crime? If one wants to bring one million dollars to Belize but for whatever reason(s), fail to comply with the stupid, rip-off law to declare, make one a criminal? So make them comply but there is no reason for gov’t to steal their money. The FIU in Central Bank/ Min. of Finance must know this. Where is the crime? This is another reason Investors are staying away from Belize. Why doesn’t GOB make it a crime to enter Belize if you are ugly, too black, too yellow, too white, too anything. The law is unreasonable , immoral, and unethical. Bring the person into compliance. From where I stand, I see the GOB stealing from Belizeans unaware of the consequences of this stupid law.
Funny. i always though it was 10,000.00 US and not BZ dollars that would make issues . Can anyone tell me which is really correct?
By the way. Nice advertisement for Westrac
Just to clear things up for you Eye in the Sky: Mrs. Cheung is a sister to one of the employees of Westrac. This employee handed over his shirt to her for warmth when she was detained by the police. He later realized his error and he almost lost his job over it.
It’s usually $10,000 for whatever currency the country has. At least between US and Belize they both are at 10,000.
Not sure about countries like Mexico or Guatemala.
Too bad he didnt loose his job YET. Now they will think they are doing money laundering. Who knows how many people are doing it for them. They bleach the hell of her hair so they consentrate on her and not on her bag. Good work inmigration and customs keep it up.
It clearly says she’s a belizean so what’s the problem.
I think Belize needs a lil more money dont you?
She the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen on Belize tv.
I agree with you ooooo, I don’t see the crime? It’s her money so she should be allowed to carry as much as she wants. Her last name clearly is either one of her ex husbands or husbands name, so obviously she isn’t Chinese. People are just so quick to judge without knowing the whole story. It clearly states she is a BUSINESS woman so she obviously works hard for a living. Just because you work hard for a living and earn alot of money people are ready to slate you. She was just visiting family buy the looks of it and took a bit too much money over, where’s the crime in that?
