Brian Brown gets bail for drug charges

Brian Brown

Brian Brown is out; he was released this afternoon after Justice Adolph Lucas granted him bail at the Supreme Court. His attorney, Ellis Arnold, submitted that Brown should be granted bail because of non-compliance with an order made by Judge Lucas on June nineteenth when Arnold initially made attempts to get him bail. Judge Lucas had denied the application because the trial was scheduled for June twenty-sixth in the Magistrates Court. But Brown was denied bail a second time by Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, who told him to reapply at the Supreme Court. Well, the back and forth has paid off and today Justice Lucas granted Brown bail of ten thousand dollars. That decision came with several conditions, including that Brown had to surrender all travelling documents and stay away from all prosecution witnesses. The charges against him followed a GSU raid on May sixteenth at his property on Fabers Road. He was not at home, but a JP was present to witness the search in his absence. The officers found a bullet proof vest, over seven thousand dollars in cash, drugs, police handcuffs, ski masks and a government license plate among other items. After a week on the run, Brown surrendered to police and was charged for eight offences; six counts of Drug trafficking, Possession of a Bong and Possession of an Unregistered Bullet Proof Vest. He returns to court on July third.

Wow… This guy acutally got bail? he’s probably a hitman for a minister. This a prime example why the crime Level in Belize gonna stay high because its easy to get bail and win a court case in Belize regardless of the Magnitute of the crime. It’s a open Ended invitation for criminals to do as they please Knowing they gonna Be a free man when it’s all said and done. Another reason why most belizean abroad don’t wanna go back home because of corruption and poor system having these criminal walking he street knowing they gonna go kill again and nothing will come of it.
