Friend of Raheem Smith is charged for his murder

Paul Martinez

Eighteen year old Paul Steven Martinez of Berry Street has been charged for the murder of his friend, eighteen year old Raheem Smith. No plea was taken from Martinez, who appeared unrepresented in court today. On Thursday of last week, it was reported that Smith was in the company of Martinez and a group of friends at a house on George Street when an argument erupted between the two men, over a bike. Smith was stabbed to the upper right side of his body and died some thirty minutes later while receiving treatment at the K.H.M.H. On Friday, Paul Martinez’s mother, Anne Martinez told News Five that her son acted in self-defense. In court this afternoon, Martinez was slapped with a second charge, this time for robbery. It is alleged that on the same day of the killing, Sampson Jacobs was at the B.T.L. Park on Albert Street South where a man with a firearm robbed him of an assortment of jewelry, an iPhone, another cell phone and fifty dollars, all valued over four thousand dollars. Jacobs told police that a man, armed with a gun, held him up and relieved him of his belongings and made good his escape. Martinez pleaded not guilty to that charge but due to the nature offense, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August thirtieth.

Let’s see what justification or excuse Paul Martinez’s mother is going to say about the robbery. I wonder if she get a piece of the ‘pie’ from that robbery?

Murder and robbery in one day! Sounds like he’s too dangerous a man to ever be on the streets of the Jewel again. If convicted, hang him.

masss, I hate to see so much racism in a fellow reader and feeling of victimhood.

Let’s look at the FACTS. 17 acquittals of murder so far this year, and I believe ALL of those defendants have been black.

One of the great things about the Jewel is it is a real melting pot, and for most of us, race means next to nothing. I read somehow we’re all children of the same God.

I no believe that mother story, or her son the lie to her because how can someone be in a fight and all od a sudden feel a knife in his pants, first of all if he is so good what is he doing walking around with a knife in his pants, secondly that the thing i cant stand about some mothers…after their son go out and do wrong and the wrong catch up to them they go on TV and try to make them look good (make an A** of themselves as mother).
