Be the next Superstar premieres live at the Bliss

The wait is almost over… the curtains are about to draw for our brand new show: Be the Next Superstar. And it is coming live from the Bliss. The kinks have been ironed out, the hosts are ready, the talent is about to take the stage and the judges promise not to hold back on their comment for our brand new show. It’s a knock out made for television production which you can’t afford to miss. Freelance reporter Duane Moody was at this afternoon’s dry run.

In less than an hour at this Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts, Channel Five’s newest and most exciting entertainment show will be debuting. Topping on previous shows in the summer months, the cameras will roll for “Be the Next Superstar.”

The show will feature the talents pooled from three weeks of exciting auditions. The talent is from different ages and skills.

Sharmane Garcia

Sharmane Garcia, Producer, Be the Next Superstar

“Be the next superstar. Talent comes in all shapes, size and forms. Normally in Belize we believe that unless you can sing or act or dance then you have a talent; that’s not so. During the auditions we were looking for people with different talents like comedians, contortionists; something that other people can’t do; that’s a talent. We had fifty four people come out to audition and we had to narrow it down to twenty-six.”

Marleni Cuellar

Marleni Cuellar, Host, Be the Next Superstar

“The auditions were opened to any age, and kind of talent that people could have had. We are just hoping for as much as diverse of a talent as Belize has to offer. And we’ve managed to get some of it; we have some familiar faces that will be coming back; some large groups, some small groups, we have singing, we have dancing, drama everything. There is just so much to expect when you get here. And it is not going to be the typical entertainment show like you’ve seen from us. I keep saying it and you are going to see it once it starts.”

An entertainment show like no other says Producer, Sharmane Garcia; that will allow viewers at home to interact and voice their opinions on the performances using social networks such as facebook.

Sharmane Garcia

“We’re gonna use the social media; we are going to use facebook. So come tonight, I want you to log on to your facebook page; go to www.facebook.com/channel5superstar. Comment as they are performing and be honest, but don’t be rude and we are going to give you feedback through that. We are really trying to have viewer participation in the show because we value our viewers.  Belizeans like competition; they like laugh; they like competition. One thing that we are adding in is the knockout round. We are going to take the bottom three—the three performers with the lowest votes at the end of the week will have to fight to see who will be eliminated and who will be saved.”

We caught up with hosts, Marleni Cuellar and Earlyn Hutchinson as they fine-tuned their scripts and prepared for the show. There anticipations are high.

“With any new show, there comes a certain hype, energy and nervousness and this show is absolutely no different. We decided at Channel Five to do things a lot different this time around and so with all the little details we are trying to make sure that it is going to be a show like nobody’s ever seen before.”

Earlyn Hutchinson, Be the Next Superstar

“We’re practicing. Marleni like how she is a veteran in all of this, so she is mentoring me but I am excited; you know.”

So the journey starts tonight! Who will be the next superstar? It is up to you and it is just a text message away. Vote for Belize’s Next Superstar.

Sharmane Garcia

“Hey it’s Channel Five and you know we always try and put out the best. So tonight all I can say is Superstar.”
