Education Ministry gets $2 Million loan

In the House, the Minister of Education, Patrick Faber, announced today that it has been granted a loan of two million US dollars from the Caribbean Development Bank to be used for education sector reform. According to Faber, the monies will greatly assist in the development of a policy that will seek to improve the delivery of education across all levels.

“The board of directors of the bank has recently approved a loan to the Government of Belize in the sum of US two million dollars and whereas the purpose of the loan is to assist the Government of Belize in its newly developed education sector strategy which ultimately seeks to enhance the learning outcomes across all levels of the education sector in Belize, together referred to as the project, and whereas the prime objectives of the project are to enhance the regulatory framework for the delivery of and access to quality education in Belize, aims to strengthen system leadership and strengthen school management, develop a national human resource development strategy, strengthen the education sector monitoring and evaluation, develop a disaster risk management program, rationalize and diversify the secondary curriculum, develop a second language acquisition strategy.”
It’s so vexing to me, these “leaders” think it is great victory to celebrate because they CREATED MORE DEBT, increased the height of the mountain we are already facing.
Education no doubt needs money and reform, but NEVER by borrowing more that will crush our children and wipe out the NEXT generation’s chance and hope to have a good life. They will be working to pay off money borrowed in 2012 by their parents — yes, you and I permit it by voting schemers, cheats, and financial fools into office. This GOB has NO FISCAL DISCIPLINE.
NOT ANOTHER SHILLING OF DEFICIT SPENDING.
This is just more money the public will have to repay and all these monies will end up in the pockets of the politicians in this gov. Ever since udp has been in power the education in the country has one into the dirt box this is because of Fabers total lack know how so they keep the barrow mo and mo money and the education of the students in Belize keeps going down what a pathetic gov.damm. I hope he does not use any of the money to fund his USA University education which is happening while he is a minister.

I hope this money is distributed equally among all Six Districts in the Country.
