14 year old high school student suddenly dies
While the murder of the Ladyville shop keeper was calculated, the death of a young girl in Belize City is left without answers. An Edward P. Yorke High School student died mysteriously at her home on Jude Street in Belize City. On Tuesday August seventh, thirty year old Averil Tinsley arrived home at around three p.m. and found her niece, fourteen year old Marcella Dorenda Smith, lying motionless on the sofa. Smith was bleeding from the nose and Tinsley soon realized that the teen was dead. Police are investigating the sudden death of the fourteen year old and have learned that she was not suffering from any diseases, except for vomiting and diarrhea which she experienced on Saturday but did not seek medical attention.

What a sad story. My prayers to her soul and the family.
It’s too bad primary health care isn’t more available and affordable, so she could have seen a doctor when the symptoms started.
My heart goes out to Marcella’s family. She was a model student, very quiet, mannerly and intelligent. Only God knows why she was taken so suddenly even now that she is an angel. Even though she was a past student of Queen Square Anglican School, I know the teachers who knew her (like myself) will surely miss her 🙁
