Miss Earth Belize Runner Up says pageant organizer fooled her

But while Belize has relatively strong representation in China for the Miss World 2012, on the local scene, the five delegates vying for the title of Miss Earth Belize 2012 will also take center stage at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts this Saturday, August eighteenth. But who is the reigning Miss Earth? News Five understands that the crown was taken away from the 2011 winner, Monique Habet. This implies that all duties and representations of the jewel would have been made by the runner up, Kiasha Bevans. But not so; the crown and duties were bestowed on third place winner, Kimberly Robateau that represented the jewel in Thailand in December of last year. In fact, Robateau has taken on full duties as the reigning Miss Earth. According to Bevans, she did not represent Belize in Thailand because she was told she did not meet the standards of the international pageant, but would still hold the title. She says that she has been trying to contact Pageant Director, Darlene Campbell, who initially told her she was too fat. Bevans now believes that the pageant is bogus.

“The pageant is bogus because last year, July twenty-third, I was crowned the first runner up of Miss Earth Belize. The winner was Miss Monique Habet. But for some reason, her crown was taken away and that made me automatically the reigning Miss Earth which I still am. But the verbal agreement with the pageant was that Kimberly Robateau that was the second runner-up, she was going to represent in Thailand because I was too fat and because I was too short for the pageant. Now my biggest concern is why accept me in the pageant in the first place if I was going to be too fat or too short to represent in Thailand. After Kim came back, they said that I would finish my reign and I would continue fulfilling my duties and none of that didn’t happen. Miss Darlene; I was trying to be professional and trying to contact her through email, messages; trying to call her, contacting her relatives and every time we tried that they said that she is in the states. And now that she came back, we haven’t heard anything and Kim is doing everything for the pageant and I don’t think it is fair that I automatically should get the crown and now the issue is that I am too fat and too short.  Miss Darlene Campbell, the Director of the pageant, she said that when she sent in my records to Thailand, the committee emailed her back and said that I am unfit to represent because I did not meet my requirements in my weighing and I did not meet the requirements in my height.”

“Yes, I think it was five-five that you are supposed to be and I think that I am right on the borderline for the height of five-five. So for her to have accepted me in the pageant in the first place, it wasn’t an issue; but now that it was time to go to Thailand, they wanted Kim to go because I guess it’s because she is taller, thinner than I am.”
