Bert Vasquez has been remanded at the Central Prison since June twentieth. Vasquez is the man accused of the murder of thirteen year old Jasmine Lowe of Santa Elena and for the common assault against eleven minors from the area. Vasquez, it is reported, has been placed in solitary confinement at the prison but on Friday afternoon Vasquez was somehow injured by another inmate from the west. There are few details of the attack but News Five was told by Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of National Security, Raphael Martinez, that Vasquez received superficial lacerations to the back.

“At approximately two p.m. on Friday, Bert Vasquez was hit from behind by another inmate which caused him to suffer superficial lacerations to his back. He has since been treated and of course released back to his cell. It’s not very uncommon for small incidents such as this to happen behind prison; prison being what it is. But the good thing about it is that we are always there to keep it under control and whatever the motive was, he did not sustain any major injuries, as I mentioned before, it was just superficial lacerations. And we do have a health facility there; so he was treated and released.”
Jasmine Lowe was found dead in early June in Santa Elena. During the investigation into her murder, other young girls came forward with allegations that they had been inappropriately approached by Vasquez who offered money to entice them.
Why is this guy getting media coverage whenever anything happen to him? why can’t he be treated like any common crimminal, my question is, does the media owes him anything, or does the police department subject to console him whenever things go wrong?
Why hasn’t he been hung I hope that the men in jail give him what he deserves and I hope unu understand what I am saying hope he gets busted up slow this Bally should have been hung already what is wrong with this pm and gov. So pathetic this gov.
Bert Vasquez needs to sue the prison and the police for failing to protect him. No man is guilty until convicted by a jury of his own. Thus he should sue the prison for their lax security, and the police for spreading the stories they did about him.

Its time for Belizean to wake up and stop hiding the mess under the rug cause there is no more space under the rug. Minister Louis Farrakhan prophecize this in 1986 and no one in Belize took it seriously now we are reaping what we sow in order to get us back on the right track. Too long we have been sitting around idling and talking but not acting on trying to change our mindset, instead we spend time destroying one another.
i blv its true… you cannot cinvict the man if the court has not done so. uncle benji must be thinking like me. what if this man is not the one who killed jsmine lowe? then that means that that person is still out there free and capable to do more damage to one of our youth anytime. lets not judge before the time, we have thriwn stones at him (literally) and we dont know if he is guilty. lets give him a chance to face the court. By the way… when is his next courtcase? Cayo ppl no plan there next move yet? haha
