The Belmopan school sex scandal discussed in the House

Dolores Balderamos Garcia

Also in the House this morning, the issue of the Baptist High School sex scandal was raised by the opposition, questioning the Ministry of Education about the delay in suspending Pastor Norman Willacey from his post as principal of the high school.  Public outrage in the wake of allegations that Willacey was engaged in a sexual relationship with a sixteen year old student has pressured the ministry, as well as the school’s management, to take action against him.  The suspension, according to Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, was late.

Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Area Representative, Belize Rural Central

“Mr. Speaker, I would simply like to, suffice to say that with the incident that arose recently, this August, we found that there was a lot of time that was, a lot of time transpired between the reports that came to the media and the suspension of the accused individual involved which only happened, to our understanding, yesterday. I do believe that too much time passed between when the incidents were reported and when there was a suspension of the individual involving the Ministry of Education, according to the education rules, and also the Belize Association of High School Principals, the Baptist Association of Belize, the Council of Churches.  I do believe Mr. Speaker that it is a matter that we need to put on the table for national attention and to call for immediate action.”

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

“Mr. Speaker, I have gone on the record giving interviews to all the media houses saying that I was very disappointed in the fact that they have taken so long and in fact sent very strong language to the Baptist management and to the Baptist Church yesterday to say to them that we really needed a response publicly by the close of business yesterday.  And in fact, Mr. Speaker, I am happy to report that our partners in the Baptist Management have complied and in fact, indicated, according to the rules that they will suspend or have suspended Pastor Willacey as principal of Belmopan Baptist High School and that the fifteen days will, he’ll be suspended for fifteen days pending an investigation.  I don’t think that anybody can expect that the management or anybody who has a stake here or who has a role to play in terms of investigating or determining that what has happened at that school is expected to, or can be expected to, just give a verdict of guilty without giving the individual due process.  And so I ask Belizeans, I ask the community here in Belmopan to be patient as that process goes through, but know that come the opening of school tomorrow that Pastor Willacey will certainly not be in the role of the principal of Belmopan Baptist.”

It was resolved within a week, that’s exceptionally fast. And it seems to have been fair and thoughtful. A good example for other schools, churches, and government agencies in the future.

If this is really you Bert, you are already protected. You are in jail where you belong, to protect yourself from your perverted evil mind and the acts that you will perform on little girls, if you was free in society. I hope you stay protected, until you meet your maker!!!!!

Even the other criminals want to give you a taste of the brutality you inflicted on those girls, and Jasmine. You are being protected from them too. Hopefully, the prisoners succeed in their efforts to make you pay. If not, I hope you stay protected behind bars, like the animal you are, until you meet your maker!!!!!

I do believe that due process into the situation was done in perfect timing and that the Baptist Association has done well in having him suspended untill investigation is over. anyhow seemig we have a homo who is quite mad with the Belmopan Pastors and yes i am refering to you Ixchel Pop. you know if you want to be all judgemental about wha happen here in Belmopan hey then go ahead but let me tell you something NOT all Pastors are the same and There are a few God Fearing Pastors who stand on the word of God. the way you say things make it seems like you are a person who is quite experience in being a homo fighting for the UNIBAM case and defending them. the Bible speak against people such as yourself. God made man and woman and command them to go out and multiply he did not create man and man. if you can have another bring forth a child for you then let us see it. then we will believe you.
