Principal Willacey won’t face charges

Norman Willacey

Norman Willacey, the former Pastor of the Belmopan Baptist Church, will not face any charges before the courts for carrying on a sexual relationship with a sixteen year old student. When the scandal broke, over a week ago, Willacey, a high ranking member of the Belize Baptist Association, had to resign. Speculation about whether Willacey was involved with the minor before the age of consent can be laid to rest. That is because, according to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the young girl has told the investigating officers that the fallen pastor did not have a relationship with her prior to her sixteenth birthday. Through a number of correspondences to the teenager on the social media, Willacey, principal and counselor at the Belmopan Baptist High school, spoke of his sexual involvement with the student.  In a rather un-expected and accidental text message to a News Five reporter, Willacey also confessed of being involved with the girl. Today, Willacey remains on a fifteen day suspension from his principal position at the school. An investigation is ongoing into the incident. He resigned from the pulpit and church last week, but remains as a member of the church.

You know I really dont know what is wrong with this DPP we have she needs to go cause with this poor prosecution rate even blind eye jamesy could see that something is wrong like the young man that was killed in Belmopan she says it was self defense and he has no case to answer what kind of stupidness is this thats why there is a court of law to determine this seems she is judge jury and lawyer now

@Rod.. i wish one day you would be positive. You are about the most negative poster i have seen on this board, but that is the liberty we enjoy, to be free to say whatever we want. Kudos to you, sometimes you say what others are thinking but why put prejudice in this. Sexual predators live among us, they could be our neighbour, our brother sister, our cousin etc. Belize is no different, its just that now with technology, we can get the word out to the entire world. With is new technology also comes responsibility. Some posters like NY make it sound like this only happens in Belize, it happens all over. The pastor will reap what he has sowed. Its sad but we seem to expose the victims and protect the predators

  10. belizea says:

well let’s hope that he is fully dismissed and terminated at least so that he can suffer hard times and think seriously about his crime. let’s pray he learnt a lesson from this incident and does not go after any other child who is silly enough to fall for his prattle

  11. Think says:

We all know this child lied for him about the age they started having sex. At her age she thinks he is in love with her and does not want anything bad to happen to him. Wake up honey, this man does not love you. If you told him “NO”, he would have found some other young girl to abuse.

  12. Steel says:

so it is ok for him to go on “messing around” with students as long as they’re 16???!!!! COME ON!

  13. b.Jones says:

Yes Rod, it’s not becoming of a person in his position BUT it’s not a crime because the child is of age (16). It is morally reprehensible but it’s a crime. The teacher you speak of is in jail because the victim was under age (-16) & not because the complexion of his skin. If the victim was to say that the relationship with this man begun b4 ahem was 16 then we have a crime.

Rod, are you looking for the law to be broken & have this man jailed because he’s black ? you would extra racist to me my buddy.

  14. surgery14E says:

    Shut up Rod!

  15. Hafutak says:

This is too disgusting. For how long will we continue to tolerate predators in our society with our full knowledge?
