Santa Elena resident, 16 years, stabbed to the chest
A sixteen year old Santa Elena resident is under observation at the K.H.M.H. after he was stabbed to the chest early this morning at his house. Roni Baños was in his yard on Tuesday night socializing with relatives when he was injured. It happened at around twelve-thirty a.m. when he intervened in to stop a misunderstanding between an estranged couple. Baños was stabbed on the chest and is unable to speak at this time. Doctors are monitoring his progress. News Five spoke with Roni’s father, Ramon Baños who recounted what happened.

“It was about twelve-thirty or quarter to one, I was asleep in my bed and he was downstairs in the yard inside my home. There was my son’s wife’s sister went there and spent the day and part of the night and I understand that her ex-boyfriend came in the yard and they were discussing and talking and I understand that he was trying to take away the baby from her. They tried to defend the girl there so that the guy didn’t take away the baby and that’s when he stabbed my son, Roni.”

“What is his prognosis right now? What are the doctors saying?”
Ramon Baños
“Well the doctors are saying that they put him on eight hours of observation and monitoring what all because the wound was deep. The doctors say it touch his lungs. So they want to observe him and if he needs surgery, then they will do surgery and if he don’t need surgery; that’s why after eight hours they will say what’s gonna happen.”
Baños is in a stable condition.
Best of luck to the young Good Samaritan. Indiana Jones once said, “Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight,” and it could be paraphrased to, “Don’t bring bare hands to a knife fight.” No good deed goes unpunished.
