Murder charge after she drove over her baby’s daddy

This afternoon, a twenty-five year mother and bank proof teller, was charged with murder and attempted murder. Calaney Flowers is accused of slamming her car into the father of her child Lyndon Morrison who was riding his motorbike along with his pregnant girlfriend Sochyl Sosa. Morrison succumbed two hours later but Sosa lived to tell the story. From her hospital bed today Sosa said that just prior to the incident on Freetown Road; there was an encounter with Flowers. Freelance reporter Duane Moody has that story.

Twenty-five year old proof teller of the Atlantic Bank Limited, Calaney Flowers evaded media cameras today covering her face with this green rag when she was taken for arraignment in court. Flowers is accused of the murder of her ex-boyfriend and baby’s father, twenty-nine year old Lyndon Morrison and the attempted murder of twenty-five year old Sochyl Sosa. On Tuesday night, Flowers reportedly slammed her Saturn car into the couple who was riding on a red motorcycle. Morrison died two hours later and Sosa sustained a broken leg, abrasions on both arms and a large cut wound to the head.

While in her bed in the surgical ward of the K.H.M.H., Sosa recounted off-camera the incident. She says they had an encounter with Flowers on Mahogany Street moments before the fatal accident.

“We met by a shop, she stop and she ask me questions: if the rings fit me. I tell ahn what ring? I don’t know about no ring. Ih call, ih say Mister Morrison come here. She said, you noh tell Sasha bout the ring. He said what ring? He noh know about nothing bout no ring. Then they start talk about the baby. She said get this now, you wah stop see your baby and this that. He said, well you can’t stop me from seeing my baby. The gial said, you are just a sperm donor; that’s all. Well we will see each other in court. The she left. But none of us were quarrelling or fight because we done say she noh di quarrel, I noh di quarrel, he noh di quarrel. So she just left. When we were coming by the roundabout, we saw her vehicle; she followed us and she get speed and then she bang into us. After that I can’t remember anything because I fell off the cycle. We had to stop by the bump because if we fly by the bump, we still mi wah have wah accident. So we stop, but when we stop she crash into us then we fly off. I mi frighten. I tell he stop; this gial wah kill wi, please stop. Ih say baby I can’t stop, I ina speed right now. So we had to stop because of the bump. So them when she hit us everything happen.”
Flowers then reportedly went to Morrison’s home and told the family what she did. On Wednesday, an eyewitness said that after the red car hit the motorcycle, it sped off in the direction of Mahogany Street. Flowers was later arrested.

“I saw this motorcycle coming on Freetown Road by Atlantic Bank and all I notice that wah vehicle came from behind and just knock the motorcycle. I saw this guy fly off the motorcycle and I see this young lady too that was riding behind the man on the motorcycle, she fly up high ina the sky too.”

“Yeah it’s like almost the height of the fence by Central Assembly Church. To my experience it is first time I see wah incident like that happening. He had on his helmet that really protected his head but at the same time, the helmet got crushed, totally crushed. Only the sponge that the helmet inside have protected his face. And right where he was lying down, a lot of blood too.”
Flowers and Morrison have an eleven month old baby, but they’re estranged; according to Sosa who says that she and Morrison have been involved for the past five months. In fact the accident has revealed that she was pregnant, presumably with their child. Sosa says there was a fight between her and Flowers earlier this year after she found about her relationship with Morrison.

“Word on the street is that she is the common-law-wife who shares a child with him and you were the “girl on the side.” How do you respond?”

“Well they have a baby together, yes I know that. But since me and he get together, he help ahn with the baby, but he tell me he noh deh with she, he deh with me. Everybody knows that: his mom, sister, everybody know that, friends everybody.”
The incident is devastating to Sosa because approximately one year and five months ago, back in March of 2011, Sosa was the passenger in a car, which flipped killing her then boyfriend, Robert Lionel. She received head and body injuries. Duane Moody reporting for News Five.

This little home recker should not even try to look like a victim. She knows that she took him away from a home with his child and Flowers. Of course, she is not the only one to blame. A relationship changes when a baby is born but instead of staying home and working it out, Mr. Morrison decided to move on to the chick on the side. Rest in Peace.
I am sorry that Flowers could not control her emotions. All women that have been cheated on know how hard it is to control yourself when you just want to tear them apart.

This is such a tragic situation. Belize men have a problem with fidelity and the women just lay down and have babies for these boys. Please we need to teach morality in the schools, we as a country have totally lost sense of right and wrong. Three familes are ruined by this senseless act. Mother teach your boys to respect women and not just use them as a sex toy. Mothers teach your daughters to respect themselves and to make these boys respect them. Please start to restore morality back to the country.

As much as its a tragedy its also a big ignorance for Ms. Sosa since she was aware that Morrison was a family man and due to their indiscretion caused friction thus causing a split in the family.. NO Woman likes to be cheated on, Yet there are some that are determined to split a family.

Bottom Line Ms. Flowers should have loved herself enough to end the relationship, she knows he wanted someone else. She should have thought about her child first. She was being selfish. . Its sad to see such beautiful lives ruined. I understand what Ms. Flowers was going through, I´ve been there and the feeling of hurt and betrayal that takes over drives you to point that you dont think about the consequences of our actions. It only takes seconds for tragedy to unfold. Ms. Flowers is a beautiful young lady and Ms. Sosa is a trashy version of her…. Hope Ms. Sosa learns her lesson and not try to break up anymore homes. What a sad situation indeed! especially for the little baby. Ms. Flowers had probably reached a breaking point and was reacting out of pure emotions and hurt. Remember it takes two. Nobody knows what was going on in that relationship (Flowers/Morrison) maybe he was playing both of them in telling Sosa that he was not with Calaney. Now Sosa and Calaney is without a man!

Unfortunately Sosa will be the face of the other woman in the eyes of all Belizean women who have been cheated on. Sounds like the guy moved on, it happens all the time, people get into relationships and get out for whatever reason. She had no right to kill the man her actions are indefensible. Again, we need to raise our kids to have self-esteem and not measure their worth based on how much someone else loves or what they think of them. If the tables were turned and a man killed his ex girlfriend and attempted to kill the new lover would the argument be the same? Would anyone really say I would do the same thing?

I do not care what anyone want to say. a life is a life. if it was my brother she did that to. I would have her head on a plate. People move on in life if they want to. also I heard she was very possesive, and crazy. Read krem news and then you can think before you write.
It’s a very sad situation alright. I feel very sorry for the young lady Ms. flowers. Was in that same situation before and it wasn’t a good feeling,but she should have thought of the child. I guess anger got the best of her. To all the young ladies out there or all women for that matter learn to move on and try to take the negatives in your life and make them possitives. remember life goes on and if a man can be so easily stolen from you he wasn’t worth having in the first place, also remember that what goes around comes around. My sympathies to all the families injured over this. I strongly believe is justice and that we are responsible for our actions. Calaney I could never commend you for taking a life much less the life of your child’s father and deprive your baby of that relationship. I will not cast blame on Sochyl either. From the time Flowers meet her baby daddy and another girl together and she follow them around its premeditated murder. She had ample opportunity fi go home to her baby and left them alone. I feel sorry fi Sosa caz its not funny to have 2 loves taken from your life in such a short span of time. damn.
It can be very challenging for a woman to be experiencing infidelity, esp. after recently giving birth. Emotion runs high, baby blues, I know it can be a terrible thing to have a good outlook on your family’s future, then some outside girl comes and rips that away. I personally believe that Ms. Flowers act was not acceptable, but reasonable, coming to be provoked extremely. I was cheated on as well planning wedding at 8 a.m and 1 hr later was told the relationship was not working out. Moved out few min after and by Mid day mrs. pan di side was in the place i called home a few hrs ago.
That didnt cause me to kill him or her my mentallity is that what goes around comes around and God is watching down on what we do.
